For A grade 3, the overall quality of the field is very poor. Fair play then to connections for finding a good spot to a potential graded win.
TENACIOUS V – VINDICATION x LEAR FAN x BUCKPASSER. She has shown her best form at 9f.
Her two tries at 10f were an injury and second on an off track. On face value, another try at 10f would seem a good idea. It would appear from recent form she is on the downgrade; mind saying that on past form she is one of the best in the race. It would though be a major surprise if she were to win and somewhat of a disappointment too.
PLANETARIUM (IRE) – GALILEO (IRE) x KRIS S. x STORM BIRD exciting filly at 8f which appears to be her trip. Continues to improve with a nice victory at this trip and an impressive 113sp last time. Like the name of this filly as well. Seems like the improving horse in the race and hopefully should win and then go onto better things. A very exciting horse to own.
LPGA JADE (NY) – JADE HUNTER x THEATRICAL (IRE) x SWORD DANCE (IRE) Consistent filly but she really is a stakes horse only, but this is a soft field so may take a place. She would appear to lack the speed and class to deal with an on song Planetarium though.
TETE OF GIBRALTAR (IRE) – ROCK OF GIBRALTAR (IRE) x GRAND LODGE (IRE) x END SWEEP A though filly who was in sensational form at stakes level last summer. Needs to find that form once again to win this race. Was second in this race last year and in all honesty will do well to repeat the dose again in 2008.
CHOP NEVER STOPS – GREEN DESERT x CAPE TOWN x STORM CAT This filly has had 27 races is consistent but at allowance level. Looking at her form, she has seen better days. Mind win two back was a good race. She is an 8f horse, which may act, in her favour in sneaking a place. Chances of winning appear very slim.
ROCK RIVER DREAMER (IRE) – GIANT’S CAUSEWAY (IRE) x SEATTLE SLEW x ALYDAR As with many Giant’s Causeway horses this filly is improving with racing and age. Mind that is good news considering his cost in Bp’s or credits to breed from. Her recent form is very good indeed. Including graded placed last time out. The problem could well be the trip she appears slightly better at 7-7.5f. That being said she is the main danger in my eyes to Planetarium.
GONE WYLDE – GONE WEST x NORTHERN DANCER x SEATTLE SLEW The best horse in the race. Well spotted but it appears she is better at 9f than this 8f. It would appear the owner is hoping her class carries her to victory. If it was 9f she would be a penalty kick, but at this trip, she may be found out.
DRUJ’S BEST (IRE) – KING’S BEST (IRE) x EL GRAN SENOR x MR. PROSPECTOR Seemed to be injured on its last start. The overall level of form shown by this filly is nowhere near graded standard. I am assuming it is entered in this as there are no other suitable races to run in this week. Once again 9f as with several of these would also appear to be a better trip option.
Overall this looks a great race for Planetarium to get that first graded win and then use it as a spring board for better things in the coming year she is the u and coming excitement on show. The main dangers appear Gone Wylde who has the class but wants 9f ideally with Rock River Dreamer who is still improving but would appear a better 7f horse.
