R Dangerfield Takes The PHONE UNTIL PHONES Cap
Clear skies began giving way to clouds as this weeks stakes race, The PHONE UNTIL PHONES Cap. It was a small field of 5 but only one would come out the victor and that one was R Dangerfield, breaking the race record of 3:02 by 1/5 of a second with a time of 3:01 4/5 with a speed of 98 in this 14 furlong race on the dirt for $80,000. Let’s take a look and see what happened. The horses broke well and by the first call it was Sad Java Man in the lead. Vintensity settled in nicely 3/4 of a length behind him in second and Je Suis Pain was 3/4 of a length behind him in third. It was another 1 3/4 lengths back to R Dangerfield in fourth and Xtra Welcome trailed the field 11 lengths off the lead. It would remain this way until the third call, with just the distances between horses changing a little. At the third call things had begun changing and it was Vintensity who had taken the lead. R Dangerfield was moving forward quickly and was now racing in second just a quarter of a length behind Vintensity. Sad Java Man dropped back into third. Je Suis Pain was now running in fourth 9 lengths off the lead and just a half a length behind him, Xtra Welcome was still in fifth but was gaining ground quickly. At the wire it was all R Dangerfield, 2 1/4 lengths ahead of the pack. Xtra Welcome made a valiant run to move up from fifth to finish second. Vintensity was running out of steam and finished third, 6 3/4 lengths back from the lead. Sad Java Man just couldn’t hold it together and finished in fourth. Je Suis Pain, never any threat to the rest of the field, finished fifth, 27 1/2 lengths off the lead. So, there you have it. It was an exciting race with R Dangerfield exploding to take the win. Congratulations to trainer roundtable and R Dangerfield for a great win this week. And yes, I was wrong once again. Have a good weekend and see everyone at the tracks next week.
