We are headed to Ireland to take a look at this Owner Restricted Residency race which is being sponsored by the Hoosier Racing residency. The Raven Handicap will run across 8.5 furlongs on the firm turf in Ireland on Saturday. This race if for 3 year old fillies only and has drawn an eleven horse field of belonging to residency members. The Raven in Irish proverbs means to have a seer’s supernatural powers. Raven is considered one of the oldest and wisest of animals. Moving forward to Saturday’s race we will see which of these fillies has the supernatural powers to get up for this Listed Stakes win. The field looks to be very competitive and the odds and post positions have been set. Let’s take a quick preview of the 3 year old fillies that will be running in The Raven Handicap in Ireland this Saturday afternoon.
| 1 | WRONG MAILBOX | KY | 3F | hoosier15 | J Stivers | 7 | 2 | 71% | $85,960 | Sponsor | 12/1 |
Coming out of the inside gate will be this Bay Filly who was sired by Noble Mission (NOBLE MISSION x ARCH x RAVEN’S PASS). She has had seven prior starts with five hits on the boards. It took her five starts to break her Maiden and was close in several of those Maiden starts along the way. Last time out she went around two turns for the first time over in Florida on 01/28/2022. She seemed to take to that 8 furlong race and got up for the win with an 89 speed rating. She will need to continue to show improvement on this second start of the season for the Hoosier stables.
| 2 | PIVOTAL LUKA | GB | 3F | irishman2 | P Jetter | 2 | 1 | 50% | $4,491 | 0.00 | 5/1 |
Next we have this Chestnut Filly who is a scratch bred (PIVOTAL x KINGMAMBO x DYNAFORMER). She only has two prior starts but has put up some good fractions in both races. The first race on record was a warm up race in an open field hot race in Japan. She handily picked up the win in that outing. She laid of with a three month rest and came back out on 02/08/2022 in Japan to run as a three year old in a $49700 NW2L Allowance. She ran a 90 speed that day which was only good enough for a fourth place finish. She looks to improve here on Saturday and see if she can get back on the boards for the Ace stables.
| 3 | SHADY THORN | KY | 3F | chilichili | S Jaeger | 3 | 1 | 67% | $42,661 | 1.00 | 5/1 |
Next we have this Brown Filly who was sired by Catholic Boy (CATHOLIC BOY x MONSUN x STORM CAT). This filly is also out of a nice looking G2 mare, Cloud In The Sky who has produced several prior stakes winning foals. Last time out this filly ran on 02/16/2022 in Newmarket going 8 furlongs. She grabbed the lead around the third call but was caught late at the wire coming in second by a half length with a 93 speed rating. She is looking for a win here on Saturday for the Chilimac stables.
| 4 | CARRY ME BACK B | ENG | 3F | munchiebarn | M Day | 9 | 3 | 78% | $129,238 | 4.00 | 6/1 |
Here we have a Bay Filly that is a scratch bred (NATHANIEL x RAINBOW QUEST x LEAR FAN). She is currently on a hot streak with three wins in a row. Last time out she ran in Newmarket on 02/22/2022 gong 9.5 furlongs in a $29800 NW3L Local Allowance. She got in a duel down the stretch with another late closer, but she won that battle by a neck to get her third win in a row with a 95 speed rating. She showed a lot of Class in that race and could be a contender here in Ireland for the Jakematt stables.
| 5 | JILL ZERO BABE | TUR | 3F | joekidd | C McPherson | 8 | 2 | 87% | $80,845 | 0.13 | 15/1 |
Next we have this Brown Filly that was sired by Zanjero (ZANJERO x STREET SENSE x GIANT’S CAUSEWAY). This filly was claimed back in August of last year and since being under new ownership by the Phenomanza stables she has ran at various Class levels. Her most recent start was on 02/26/2022 in Italy in a 5.5 furlong $150000 NW2L Claiming race. She showed up the best in this race as she put things together with a nice stretch run to get up by a quarter at the wire with an 86 speed rating. Although she may be going off as the longest choice in the morning line, don’t count her out if she can prove she can go around two turns successfully for the first time for the Phenomanza stables.
| 6 | BONE ORDER | GER | 3F | grandpa | J Ventura | 8 | 3 | 87% | $113,226 | 6.13 | 8/1 |
This is a Light Grey Filly that was sired by Areion (AREION x ADLERFLUG x UNBRIDLED’S SONG). She has eight lifetime starts and has only missed the boards one time. She seemed to take well in going around two turns and her last time out she ran on 02/02/2022 going 9 furlongs on a wet turf track here in Ireland. She was staying close early in the race and grabbed the lead by the third call. She went on to get the win going away by two and a half with an 84 speed rating. We have seen her go faster on the firm turf and she will get that here in Ireland this weekend when she heads out to her gate for the Jakematt stables.
| 7 | LADY MONTILEO | IRE | 3F | kewlbread | R Williams | 5 | 0 | 80% | $40,737 | 0.00 | 9/1 |
Next coming out will be this Bay Filly who was sired by Decorated Knight (DECORATED KNIGHT x ACCLAMATION x MONTJEU). She has not broken her maiden yet in five starts but she has come very close several times. She tends to like this Ireland track, but she is still seeking a win here. The distance looks good for this filly as she went 9 furlongs her last time out on 02/09/2022 here in Ireland. She seemed to find a spot in this race and planted herself there as she crossed the wire in third with an 89 speed rating. She looks to improve and find her first win when she is sent out for the Kewlsavage37 stables.
| 8 | JOANNES DESIRE | KY | 3F | horizons6 | D Nickesy | 4 | 1 | 50% | $50,116 | 0.00 | 11/1 |
Next out we have this Light Grey Filly that was sired by Creative Cause (CREATIVE CAUSE x BLUEGRASS CAT x NIJINSKY 2ND). She broke her Maiden on 02/08/2022 and was sent back out on a short rest to run for the first time on the dirt going 9 furlongs in the Hoosier Racing: The Belle Of Louisville. She threw a clunker as she did not take well to the change in surface or the 9 furlongs she was ask to run. Coming back to the turf should help this filly when she comes out to take her place here in Ireland for the Baggio stables.
| 9 | CLEAN WAR | FR | 3F | commonwealth | J Bradley | 6 | 3 | 50% | $91,104 | 4.00 | 6/1 |
This is a Bay Filly was sired by War Command (WAR COMMAND x ORFEVRE (JPN) x TEOFILO). After a couple of tough first starts she seemed to blossom when she started running around two turns grabbing three straight wins in a row at the Allowance level. She was then sent out to see if she could move up in Class when she ran on 01/22/2022 in Hong Kong in the G3, Triangular Star Stakes. She did improve on her speed rating with a 95, but she found the field way too tough for her in her first Graded attempt. She crossed the wire in eight that day and was never a factor. This step down in Class could spark her interest and she has ran this distance in her three most recent starts for the Oldmoonfarms stables.
| 10 | OMEGA LUKA | IRE | 3F | mariana2 | E Newcomb | 0 | 0 | 0% | $0 | 0.00 | 6/1 |
Here we have a Bay Filly that is a scratch bred (GALILEO (IRE) x NUREYEV x NIJINSKY 2ND). At this point there is little for me to report on this filly as she will be a first time starter. She is of a good looking breeding and the owner must have much confidence in this horse. This might be the ace up the sleeve in this field when she makes her first appearance for the Ace stables.
| 11 | IRISH WINDOW | IRE | 3F | juventus1 | T Cooper | 3 | 1 | 67% | $30,209 | 0.13 | 13/1 |
In the final gate we will see this Bay Filly who was sired by Hallowed Crown (HALLOWED CROWN (AUS) x SHOWCASING (GB) x SEBRING). She has only three starts but has found the boards in two of those races. Last time out we saw this filly run here in Ireland on 03/12/2022 when she went 6 furlongs in a $49700 NW1x Local Allowance. She got out of the gate quick and was attempting a gate to wire trip. But it was not to be when she was run down late in the stretch in very tight race of which she hit the wire in third off by only one stride. She is coming back out here in Ireland to go around two turns for the first time on a short rest period. But the owner likes what he sees in this filly that is owned by the Baggio stables.
Good luck to all owners and horses!
