10 Aim for the G3 Misfired Bogie Stakes

Misfired Bogie Stakes
Grade III
A mile and one eighth
Firm Turf
$150,000
All horses, 3 years old and up

This Graded race over 9 furlongs features a hot favourite and a number of other worthy entrants. The runners are:

GR SMACK

Trainer: sdprizes

(Sadler’s Wells x Seattle Slew x Buckpasser)

Odds: 9/1                    Earnings: 130,977                  Runs/Wins: 25/7

A scratch bred 5yo horse from Pierchinski Stables. An inexperienced horse at this level having had only three stakes runs in his career so far and failed to perform well in any of them.  He does however come her in excellent form and should certainly not be underestimated.

STEADY EMPLOYMENT

Trainer: foxon4

(Symboli Kris S x Caro(IRE) x Vaguely Noble)

Odds: 7/1                    Earnings: 230,148                  Runs/Wins: 20/7

A scratch bred 5yo horse from Foxon Stables. Won his first stakes race last year and was quick to make it two, but has seemed to struggle in some of his races since then.  9 furlongs does however seem to be his best distance so he could snatch one of the minor placings.

LEAR PARK

Trainer: kino

(Ecton Park x Lear Fan x Hennessy)

Odds: 5/2                    Earnings: 925,483                  Runs/Wins: 29/9

A scratch bred 5yo horse from Back of the Pack  Stables, Inc.  The big favourite for this race won the G1-Canada Mile last year and has performed well since.  His last race may be of concern to potential backers but I for one think it was a one off and that we can look forward to another front running masterclass from a runner who can only improve in the year to come.

C YOU AT THE WIRE(IRE)

Trainer: lawyerron

(High Chaparral (IRE) x Rainbow Quest x Danehill)

Odds: 10/1                  Earnings: 640,480                  Runs/Wins: 25/7

A scratch bred 4yo colt from Right At Home Stables.  A bit of an enigma as after he won G2-Boston Derby and G3-Haw Haw Derby in consecutive ‘freak’ runs he has completely gone off the boil since.  On recent form he doesn’t have a look-in but if he can recreate that series of runs again look out … !

CAUGHT N THE STORM

Trainer: dundey4

(Storm Cat x Mr. Prospector x Ela-Mana-Mou(IRE))

Odds: 5/1                    Earnings: 405,449                  Runs/Wins: 32/11

A scratch bred 5yo horse from Dundey Acres.  Has put in some good performances I  the past including G2-Fujimoto Stakes last year but his last 2 races do not inspire confidence.

SHRIVER MINE

Trainer: shawke

(Dynaformer x Irish River(FR) x Blushing Groom(FR))

Odds: 18/1                  Earnings: 135,181                  Runs/Wins: 14/5

A 6yo horse from Jrogue Stables bred from an F class mare. A very lightly raced 6yo who didn’t get his first look at a race track until he was a 5yo.  He’s experienced some success in allowances and whilst he is on form at the moment he doesn’t really look to have the class needed to make his mark here.

UNPREDICTABLY T

Trainer: xtchamps

(Western Fame x Point Given x Storm Cat)

Odds: 5/1                    Earnings: 396,120                  Runs/Wins: 42/11

A 5yo horse from Tsyndicate Stables based on a G class horse.  A very experienced racer for his age and a horse with a lot of talent.  This is not a distance he is over familiar with having spent most of his career so far over a mile, but if he gets over a disappointing run last time and can focus here he could be a threat to the favourite.

TEE JAY’S GREAT

Trainer: les333

(Kris Kin x Kahyasi(IRE) x Dixieland Band)

Odds: 11/1                  Earnings: 1,051,890               Runs/Wins: 30/11

A scratch bred 6yo horse from Les111 Stables.  A fairly inconsistent horse who has had an up and down career so far,  he won the G1-Prince of Wales a couple of years back but has failed to recreate that success in graded races since.  Finished off 2007 in fairly unspectacular fashion and his only race this year was a dismal dirt run, so probably a pretty long shot for this race.

DUBEYE

Trainer: daedalus

(Dubai Destination x Danehill x Nureyev)

Odds: 6/1                    Earnings: 973,266                  Runs/Wins: 45/12

A 6yo horse from Ace Stables – Ireland Division based on an A class horse (Daneye).  A horse who has tried to live up to the pressure of his game dam (sire) who won 8 graded races including 2 G1’s.  Despite winning G1-The Newmarket Rivalry as a 3yo he has seen him change hands a few times in the auction and finally managed G2-Walnut BB Mile success for his current trainer in his penultimate race of 2007.  A steady runner who can win allowances with ease and at will but a difficult one to place it seems.

K’S PRESTIGE

Trainer: kuovadis

(Sadler’s Wells x Theatrical(IRE) x Nureyev)

Odds: 9/1                    Earnings: 377,336                  Runs/Wins: 41/8

A scratch bred 7yo horse from Pompeya Thoroughbred Racing Corporation.  A very experienced allowance runner who has only moved up to stakes racing a couple of times so this will be a tough ask for him.  Hard to see him threatening the favourites in this one.

Summary

Quite simply the favourite Lear Park looks a shoo-in for this one ….  Famous last words?
