The Auction Times Two

Auction 3525 – Last week due to unforeseen circumstances I was unable to get this article posted and rather than give you old news I decided to wait and combine this week with last week.  In week 3225, proving that advertising helps, Mythical Strength and an old favorite Dice Dancer were both mentioned on the message board and both sold for over a million dollars.  In fact, out of the 628 horses entered 18 of them sold for over a million.  The well known Dice Dancer is a 7YO mare by King Cugat out of an Alleged mare.  She was consigned by Runabout an affiliate of the Stoner group and is best remembered for her 20 race win streak.  She has won 26 of her 42 starts and is a stakes winner.  Galaxystar under the Bamstables banner, paid $2,825,003.00 to take this Sim icon home.  Also making news was Cabstc who must have been lucky at the window as he paid $375,009.00 for three horses which is by far the most paid by any of the Stc stables.

Auction 3532 – This past week was also big, with 15 horses selling for a million dollars or more.  The Stc trainers are beginning to make an impact and are paying more for their auction purchases and I am assuming more for their claimers.  The number of horses entered was slightly down from the week before, as well as the averages but all in all held pretty steady.  The Computer stables took a few more home this week and the old guys didn’t fare so well as in the past.  Of the 26 horses consigned age 9 and up, only three sold for more than a dollar.  Barndog continues to sell and buy and sell and buy and move them all around so often I am sure he must be as confused as the rest of us.

Auction Seen:

After missing last week and with all the delays this week I was lucky to make it to Kentucky at all, but I did – so here we go.  I am not sure if this state realizes that the vernal equinox has come and gone and that days are supposed to get longer and especially warmer.  I blew in the door and walked by the bar on the way to my table.  Glitters was visiting with Teaplanter who had Coffee in the corner near Osmosis.  Nextbonus and Gipper were bellied up to the bar discussing harness horses, as usual, and laughed when I told them that as soon as I won the lottery I wanted to buy a harness horse and… a steeplechaser.  They told me I had better check with Financr.  Smiling Kloie was holding court, surrounded by Siriusflit and Finalfix.  She was getting rid of a few of her lesser animals.   That crazy Texasace entered another random bred in the sale with a large reserve.  Unfortunately there wasn’t a nibble on this fine looking steed out of Texas by Boxcar.

I finally made it to my table – this week it came with Easter Lilies – and planted myself down with Threebars.  Three Bars, the horse, used to stand right down the hill from me when he was in Tucson.  HA!  How is that for a claim to fame?  I had a long visit with some of my favorite people, Jumpmoose and Cream who stopped by as did Barndog.  I tried my best to find out why he was moving so many horses around but he wouldn’t tell.  All the Cheat boys were hanging around, Red, Dale, Best and 2lose.  Fatdragon and Donnyb were active ringside and I saw Pharoah and Spastic studying the catalogue.  I hope the Bears aren’t sick as I didn’t see a one but Rollsally was there as was Poolshoota.  Billzpaid was in a great mood and announced he would leave the auction as soon as he could get away from Joesgarage and he was hoping to hook up with Roundabout who, unfortunately had just left with Jetforhome.  Well enough of my blithering and on to the rest of the story.

The Millionaires:

Almost all of the top five selling horses, from the 15 total, were real sales and not stable transfers.  So with the exception of one, here are the best of the best.  Showing the way this week was # 138865 a 3 YO dark bay filly by Monsun.  Globalism (Barndog) consigned Globalized, a rather rough coated gal with a suspicious looking knee and received a nice check for $5,113,210.00 from Simsters1, aka Lenny.  Lenny is not worried about her knee or any other suspicious part of her and feels that he will have no trouble working his magic on her.  Globalized is out of a stake’s winning mare named Queen Mambo and has won six of her 13 races including The Angelic Bonanza Stakes.

Stckaif is certainly in the chips when his homebred, 2 YO filly This Is Domination # 50518, sold for a whopping $5,000,001 to Beststable (think – Barndog).  The regal looking red filly by Touch Gold is unraced, but has been training well and has her gate card.  She is out of the maiden winner Downtown and will hopefully run to her looks.

Interdimensional # 124015, was consigned by Lasthope1, a part of the Dixiedotco group.  The 4 YO brown colt sold for $4,191,726.00 to Pbcash part of the Lenny conglomerate.  Interdimensional is by Ghostzapper out of a Storm Cat mare and you can’t get much more royal than that.  He has won seven of his 21 starts and he has turned in triple digit speed figures in his last three races.  Dixie was out of town for the weekend and I am sure he will be glad to know that his colt brought enough to pay the mortgage for a while.

With only one win in her eight starts one might wonder what possessed Kevoman3 to pay $3,631,001.00 for #146096 Queen Of the Cosmos.  However, the 4 YO bay filly by Kingmambo, out of a Kris S mare is a useful type and will certainly make a nice future addition to his broodmare band.  B’dog3 consigned this big filly.

The last of the top five non stable transfers was also consigned by one of the Stc trainers.  Kaifed Crusader, #160102 is a 3 YO dark bay filly with a bald face.  She was bred and consigned by Itchstc and is by Crusader Sword out of a Regal Classic mare.  Ace paid $2,989,238.00 to take this unraced filly home.  The Zoo must pay well!

The Stc:

Just a few observations.  The trainers are certainly starting to make some money and it is showing up here in the auction.  Although they are purchasing less horses every week, they are paying more for them then when the contest first started.  Astute wagering and more winnings should mean better horses which make more money – hopefully.  Cabstc, for the second week in a row, paid the most for an auction horse, signing a ticket for $189,665 to purchase Hidden Magic, a 4YO filly by Dynaformer.  Bigdog was the consigner.  Mrcstc, Stckaif, and Stcselur all bought two horses each.

Well, that’s it for this week.  Good Luck with all your auction purchases.
