Forambo Wildcat Explodes
Forambo Wildcat set a new stakes time record of 1:47.2 in the Explosive Bet Stakes, breaking the old record by 1/5 of a second, which was held by several horses. A 10-1 longshot, Forambo overpowered the field, a 9 furlong event launching an attack from mid-field to win by just over a length. Forambo came off an impressive second against allowance company, where he set a personal speed mark of 110. He raised that a notch to 111 in this race.
Ollie’s Quest (my third choice) made a hard charge at the head of the stretch, circling around several horses before running out of real estate and settling for the 2nd spot.
Unintentionally put in a nice race returning to the stakes level. He ran second most of the race before taking over the lead for a brief stint befor the winner ultimately blew by him. Unintentionally improved his speed rating to 104 coming off a prep race speed of 93.
Gone Wylde ran third early on and disappointed me. He was my second choice and was able to run on the front end and it looked like he would get a good trip. He just didn’t have the stamina to last the distance and ended up forth.
Draco showed his temperment for not running when asked to. Jockey Brooks was after him with the whip numerous times with no response finishing fifth.
Rock Ballad, the 3-1 favorite, was my top choice. Jockey Oxon was seeking his 3rd victory in this stakes and ended up walking off in the 6th spot. Rock Ballad seemed timid and never came off the rail.
Azkaban quickly spotted the field almost 10 lengths from the start and never made any significant move to reduce that resulting in a 7th place ending.
Sky Hill Dancer went out quickly for the lead and held on to it for half the race. Just past the midway marker, Sky started to tire and rapidly decended finishing 8th.
Otto Oh No continues to have his problems in the stakes class of late. He finished ninth and just fell further back from the leader during the race.
Take Some Stick came into the race after a sharp second and ran very sluggish throughout the race. He may not have liked the turf surface for some reason, finishing 10th.
Deputy George was a distanced 12th. He made a huge jump into this field and only his 2nd turf race. He ran 5th early on in the race before the field overtook him.
