Only 5 Contest The Jen Jen Jaroo Stakes
A mile and five sixteenths
Good Turf
$60,000
Fillies and mares, 4 years old and up
Only five runners have shown up in Longchamp this week – we really do seem to struggle to get big fields here. Two very short priced runners who have experience on this course go head-to-head although with very different running styles. The runners are:
BARADRUJ(IRE)
Trainer: sabbath5
(Barathea(IRE) x
Odds: 8/1 Earnings: 220,140 Runs/Wins: 20/6
A 4yo filly from Sabbath Stables bred from a D class mare. Has put in some reasonable performances but has failed to win anything for a while now, and despite a number of graded race entries in the past has still to win a stakes race. She likes to lead but just doesn’t seem to have the speed or the stamina to last the course.
FANDEPGROOM
Trainer: tenpin8
(Fantastic Light x Deputy Minister x Blushing Groom(FR))
Odds: 7/5 Earnings: 590,858 Runs/Wins: 36/14
A 5yo mare from Rockriver Stables bred from a D class mare. A mare who is really looking to move up the rankings this year after some very consistent performances between 9 and 11 furlongs, including a win in Longchamp last time. Winner of The G3-Canary Stakes last year she will probably be looking to add more graded victories before too long. Don’t expect to see her do much until very late into the race.
SET THE CLOCK(KY)
Trainer: deantroops
(Mineshaft x Red Ransom x Sadler’s Wells)
Odds: 3/1 Earnings: 630,840 Runs/Wins: 23/7
A 4yo filly from Murray1 Stables bred from a G class mare. A nice looking filly who has posted a number of reasonable performances over the last year. Too inconsistent for my liking though.
HELLO I LOVE YOU(ENG)
Trainer:
(
Odds: 8/5 Earnings: 293,199 Runs/Wins: 21/7
A scratch bred 4yo filly from Nextbonus Racing. A filly who will be a big star over the coming years I am certain but who still seems to have a problem with her stamina at the moment. Longchamp has not been kind to her in her last two races as she simply seemed to run out of steam over the last quarter. She’ll explode from the box and be the one to catch.
FLASH FIRE(IRE)
Trainer: oshtay2
(Galileo (IRE) x Blushing Groom(FR) x Northern Dancer)
Odds: 8/1 Earnings: 86,003 Runs/Wins: 19/5
A scratch bred 4yo filly from Oshtay Stables and bred by flaw22. A nice $15,000 claim has provided a few allowance wins for her owner without really setting the world alight in the process. I think she may have to settle for last place here but at least she will get a check – though an allowance entry next time may be abetter course of action
Summary
A small field with only 2 really looking to have a chance to take the win. Hello I Love You(ENG) will almost certainly take the early lead but I think the fast finishing Fandepgroom will reel her in over the last furlong.
