This week we are head to the track in Paris, France where we find this G1 race headlining the card. The G1, Mauldlin Cup will be at the distance of 8 furlongs and is restricted to 3 year olds and older. The track will be listed as Firm Turf at post time for the running of this race. We have a full field of fourteen horses that made the cut for this race and they all look like really nice horses and this will be a well decorated field of contenders. The morning line odds have been released and the post positions have been drawn. Let us not take a preview of the horses that will be running here in France on Saturday in the G1, Maudlin Cup.

First out we have this four year old Bay Colt that is a scratch bred (SEA THE STARS x KINGMAMBO x DANEHILL). This is a prior G1 winning colt that has won the G1, The French 2000 Guineas, G1, The Jen Brat, and in June of this season won the G2, The Sparkler Handicap. He has a nice record in his fourteen starts with ten hits on the boards. His most recent race was on 08/01/2021 when he went out in Japan to go 8 furlongs in the G2, Fried Rice Mile. He broke poorly out of the gate and could never find his way to the front. He was not to be a factor in this race when he crossed the wire back in eighth with a 110 speed rating. For the race here in France the owner is calling in jockey, J Lowich from New Jersey to fly in and take the mount with his colt. This pair will head out to the turf and to their gate representing the Empire State Racing residency.

This is a five year old Bay Horse that was sired by Iffraaj that in twenty-two starts has found the boards in fourteen of his races. This horse is a prior G2 winning and he has made many close attempts to get a G1 win, but thus far keeps coming up just a little short. He was last seen at the track on 07/25/2021 when he ran 8 furlongs in Newmarket in the G1, The Suffix. He was trying to make a gate to wire trip in this race, but once again was nipped at the wire by a head to place second with a 116 speed rating. He turns his sights to France where the owner is calling in jockey, H Artack from Turkey to come in and take to the irons for this race. This pairing will saddle up and head out to the turf representing the Empire State Racing residency.

Next out we have this six year old Brown Horse that was sired by Dissident who has twenty-four career starts and eleven hits to the boards in those races. This horse does not seem to have the experience at the Graded levels as some horses in this field and is surely the reason the odds makers have made him the longest choice in their morning line. This horse was last seen running in the Czech Republic on 06/16/2021 when he traveled 6.5 furlongs in a $29200 NW3x Allowance. He had a nice trip that day and got up for the win by one and a quarter with a 102 speed rating. The owner is giving his horse another opportunity at a Graded run and will be calling in jockey, V Jennings from Arkansas to take the ride up top. This pairing will come out of the paddock and head to the turf representing the Empire State Racing residency.

This is a six year old Bay Horse that is a scratch bred (KING KAMEHAMEHA x DYNAFORMER x NIJINSKY 2ND) that has twenty-three prior starts and has hit the boards in twelve of his races. He too is coming into this race with lesser Graded experience and thus one of the longer choices in the morning line. His last time out was on 01/30/2021 when he traveled 9.5 furlongs in Newmarket in a Listed Stakes, Brent Kingdom Turf Route. This horse did not seem to like the added distance in this race and was never a factor as he crossed the wire in thirteenth place with a 99 speed rating. The drop in distance down to 8 furlongs in Saturdays race should be more appealing to this horse and the owner is calling in jockey, F Gossett from California to take the ride with his horse. This pair will saddle up in the paddock and come out to the track to the cheers of an excited crowd.

This is a five year old Bay Horse that was sired by Frankel who has fourteen prior starts with eleven hits on the boards. Back in May of this year he ran in Kentucky and got up for the win in the G1, The Woody Ford at the distance of 9 furlongs. He then came out for his most recent trip to the track on 07/17/2021 when he ran in California at the distance of 9 furlongs in the G1, Eddie O Cap. He made a late closing effort in this race and found his way to the boards to cross the wire in third with a 115 speed rating. With two hits on the boards in his two most recent races the owner turns his eye on France for his horse and will call in jockey, A Jolly from Louisiana to take the ride up top. This jockey is familiar with this horse and they should pair together well again on Saturday when they head to their post draw representing the Empire State Racing residency.

He is a prior G2 winner and he found that win in May of this year when he ran 8 furlongs in Italy in the G2, The Premium Stakes with a nice 116 speed rating. His most recent trip to the track came on 07/25/2021 in Newmarket when he traveled 8 furlongs in the G1, The Suffix. He had a rough trip that day moving up in Class against that field of contenders. He was never a factor in this race and crossed the finish line back in eleventh with a 108 speed rating. He now comes to France on Saturday where he will get the services of jockey, J Scott. This jockey rode this horse the last time out and they will be looking to rebound after the last trip they took together in Newmarket. This pair will come out in the post parade and make their way to the turf representing the Universal Racing Club residency.

She is a multiple Graded winning filly with wins in such races as the G1, Mt Fiji Turf Sprint, G1, Weedy Establishment Stakes, and the G1, The Foul Mouth Stakes. She was most recently seen running against the boys on 07/25/2021 in Newmarket where she went 8 furlongs in the G1, The Suffix of which she got up for a third place finish with a 115 speed rating. This accomplished filly, not afraid to come out against the boys will do so again here in France. The owner is calling on a familiar jockey, J Ventura who is a local jockey here in Paris, but that also has previous experience in riding this filly. They pair up again together and will be headed out at post time representing the Northwest Racing Circuit residency.

This is a four year old Bay Colt that was sired by Oasis Dream that has had thirteen career starts and that has found the boards in seven of his races. In April of this year he got up to win going 8 furlongs in Hong Kong in the G1, The Champions Mile with a nice 119 speed rating. He was then brought back out for his most recent race on 07/25/2021 going 8 furlongs in Newmarket in the G1, The Suffix. He made a late effort in the stretch but could not find his way to the boards when he crossed the wire in sixth with a 109 speed rating. The owner brings him here to France with the hope to see his colt find his way back to the boards on Saturday. The owner is calling in jockey, T Ace who is from Texas to take this trip with his colt and see if he can get a little extra out of this horse and get back in the top three. This pairing will saddle up in the paddock and make their way out to the post parade to the cheers of an excited crowd.

Here we find a four year old Brown Colt that was sired by Highland Reel who in sixteen starts has found the boards in ten of his races. This horse will be making his first start at the Graded level here on Saturday, but he has been running very well for his owner this season. In his most recent race which was on 07/24/2021 he went 8.5 furlongs in Delaware in a Listed Stakes, The Luchadores Del Gato Stakes. He made a good run after the third call and came from sixth to find the wire first by one and three quarters with a 116 speed rating. The owner is now going to give his horse the opportunity to move up in Class and see if he can prove to be a contender at this level. For this trip we will see jockey, GD Mate from New Zealand coming in to hop in the saddle and help guide this horse when they break from their gate draw representing the East-West Connection residency.

This is a Light Grey Colt that was sired by Snitzel and that has had fourteen career starts and found the boards in ten of his races. This G1 winner found that win back in May of this year when he ran in Victoria in the G1, The Strand Broke at the distance of seven furlongs. He was then brought back out for his most recent race which was on 07/25/2021 in Newmarket going 8 furlongs in the G1, The Suffix. Everything seemed to be going his way early in the race, but that plan started to fall apart when he made the turn for home. In his stretch run he could not hold on to his second place spot. He was passed by several horses in that race and ended up crossing the wire in seventh with a 109 speed rating. The owner gives his colt another shot at the 8 furlong distance here in France and has called in jockey, J Piotrowski from Pennsylvania to fly over and take to the saddle. Jockey and horse have paired well together in the past and they look for another good trip together here on Saturday when they break from their gate to the cheers of an excited crowd.

Here we have a four year old Bay Gelding that was sired by Elzaam. This colt is the top performer out of this sire and he appears to have been bought at auction early in his career. He has been working out well under his new ownership and has proven to be a graded contender. This horse was most recently seen at the track running on 07/17/2021 in South Africa going 9 furlongs in the G3, Big Kahuna Cup. He would put up another good performance in this race. When he turned for home he was almost five lengths back when he found another gear to make it to the wire first and get up by one and three quarters with a nice 119 speed rating. This horse will need to bring that kind of speed with him as he moves up in Class here in France. We will see jockey, J Wilson coming in from the Czech Republic to take the mount up top and guide this horse across the turf. They will saddle up in the paddock and make their way out at post time representing the Hoosier Racing residency.

In April he came in second in the G2, The Sundown Mile and then went out in June and came in second in the G3, The Witchcraft. His most recent trip to the track came on 07/25/2021 when he ran in New Zealand going 8 furlongs in the G3, Cold Cup Cap. He made a closing effort in his stretch run from almost nine lengths back to find a third place finish with a 113 speed rating. He moves up in Class to run in his first G1 trip on Saturday and the owner is calling in jockey, D Matas who is a local jockey here in Paris who was seeking a mount for this race. This pair will saddle up and make their way out to the turf at post time representing the Universal Racing Club residency.

Here we have a five year old Bay Colt that was sired by Awesome Again and that is out of HOF mare, Botwisted. This five year old has twenty-two career starts and has found the boards in eighteen of his races. He is the top money winner in this field with over $5 million in his purse. He will be going off as the favorite in the morning line. This is a multiple G1 winner who has won such races as the G1, 2020 Equinics-Machu Picchu and the G1, Hong Kong Mile. He has not been off the boards since August of 2020, when a kink in the armor surfaced in his most recent outing on 07/25/2021 when he ran in Newmarket going 8 furlongs in the G1, The Suffix. He would get his first bad race in nearly a year when he failed to perform and was never a factor as he crossed the wire in ninth with a 109 speed rating. He is seeking to rebound here in France after that last disappointing trip and the owner again calls contract jockey, H Harzheim from Dubai to take his place up top. This familiar jockey to the horse will saddle up and try to get his horse back on the boards in this race when they break from their gate representing the Empire State Racing residency.

He is a G3 winner and he found that win back in August of 2020 when he got up going 6 furlongs in the G3, The Mute Button. This horse has not traveled around two turns in any of his most recent trips to the track but the owner is going to move him back up in distance here in France. This horse was most recently seen running on 07/18/2021 here in Paris when he went 6 furlongs in the G3, The Hackwood. He made a closing effort in his stretch run and was able to find his way to a third place finish just one off the leader with a 106 speed rating. He will need to show a little more speed and fire in those legs here in France when jockey, J Ledwith who is a local fan favorite jockey here in Paris climbs back up in the saddle. This pairing will make their way out in the post parade to represent the European Union Racing Organization residency.

11-Shamzaam: He is coming off a G3 win with a 119 speed. If this 10/1 choice in the morning line can run like that again he could find a spot on the boards. This horse continues to improve and this season has only missed the boards one time. He gets the opportunity to prove himself in this field and I am going to give him that opportunity too when I put him on some exotic tickets at the betting windows.
