Vermont – The Secret Capote cap

Vermont – The Secret Capote Cap Stakes headlines saturday’s card,  a group of seven older horses will travel a mile and a half on the fast dirt course for a purse of $70,000.

#1 Our Fighter 7/2 –  This 9yr shows no signs of slowing down, winning four of his last five, two of which were stakes, last time out at the distance.  Solid SP’s of 100+ in the last few so that he can contend here, but he’ll have to be at his best against this field.

#2 Theatrical Prayer (Ire) 3/1 is a 4yr out of Theatrical with a 14/3-5-4 dirt record.   Had a Grade I 3rd place finish at the distance last year, finished 6th of 19th in the Owner Restricted Minnesota Classic two starts back.  Solid closer will need some early speed to help set up his  late kick.

#3 Barb’s Adventure 5/2.  Our favorite has a impressive 15 of 35 win record, and is a earner of over one million dollars.  Coming into the race with back to back wins, last time out in the Del Penn Barb Cup which he beat 18 others and posted a SP110.  Repeat of that and he show make it three in a row.

#4 Hinterland (Ire) 9/1 has into the race with a outsiders chance, he’s won and place 2nd twice, in his last three dirt races.  However they were all allowances, and he maybe of picked the wrong race to try the step back up to stakes company.

#5 Sister Quest 5/1 has only won twice in his last eight races both of which were allowances, in his last five stakes attempts he’s only managed a pair of 3rds.  Needs an improvement to be competitive against this field.

#6 Bash to Bits (Ire) 5/1 is 5 for 14, or 2 for 6 on the dirt.    Since the switch to the dirt he’s posted nothing but 100+ SP’s, while winning a pair of allowances and last time out placing 3rd in a stakes with a SP105.  Has a chance but is another closer that may run out of time.

#7 Worst Day Ever 9/1 is our second millionaire in the field, the 5 year old is 10 of 28 but has been very inconsistent lately.  In his last five tries he has one stakes 2nd, and was 5th or worst in the other four.  Been 10 weeks since he last raced so he may of been slightly injuried there, or could of just got a fresher.
