Exploding Outhouse Stakes

This week a full field of 14 fillies and mares will line up to compete in the Exploding Outhouse Stakes.  The Race will be ran over 9.5 furlongs on a the Firm Turf Course here in Italy, with a winners share of $125,000 and a Grade III victory on the winners record.

The field starts off with A.P. INFINITY(KY) breaking from the rail, this 4yr by A.P. Indy has compiled a record of 13/6-3-2 on the turf, and is most recently coming of a 8f Stakes win in Mexio with a SP108.  If she gets lose on the lead she could provide the upset, but there looks to be a lot of speed in the race so that task may be to tough today.

MADE THE PLANS(GB) is next in line at 8/1, she’s a impressive 12/4-4-3 on the turf.  Last time out was the only time she didn’t hit the board, and that was in the 10f Devil’s Slide Handicap –G1.  Before that she was a fast closing 2nd in the He’s A Charmer-G3, which provided she belongs at this level.  Look for her in the rear of the field early on, then flying down the scretch to make it close at the wire.

MISTY Is our most recent G1 winning horse in the field, taking down the Black Gold-G1 in August.  Since then she’s won a pair of stakes, and finished out of the money in a pair of Graded races.  In her last 8 races a SP103 high doesn’t look good enough, but at 20/1 could be a longshot play.

SMOKEY THEATRE(IRE) Is out of Theatrical, with a record of 15/6-4-1.  She won a pair of stakes before stepping up to the Movieland Derby-G1 against open 3yo’s and placing 4th.  Less time out the drop back to a open Stakes wasn’t enough as she was the runner up.  She’ll be stalking the leaders into the scretch before making her move.

VERA GEMINI(KY) Is out of Kingmambo X Danzig.  After racing the first half of her career on the turf, she switched to the main track for her more recent half facing mainly Graded or tough Owner Restricted races.  She’s bred for either surface, so I think she’ll like the return to the turf, but not enough to win this.  I think she needs a open stakes win to build her convince back up.

KNEEL BEFORE ZOD(KY) Is our first millionaire in the field, this filly by Rock Hard Ten is 10/3-2-2 on the turf.  She’s the winner of the Adelaide-G1 back last May, and the Owner Restricted Smackdown III in July.  Since then she’s had a pair of 3rd in four G1 attempts, one of those was the Breeders Bowl Turf Distaff!  Shortening up today, and dropping in class may help her start off the year with a victory.

CONDOLESA Is out of Empire Maker with a 20/5-4-4 turf record.  She’s yet to win a stakes, but has been in the money a couple times in open stakes.  The added distance of today’s race could help her, but I don’t see it being enough to match this field.

Next up is a marathoner trying to shorten up.  Its been over a year since FANDEPGROOM ran over 10f’s, as she’s been doing well enough going longer, including a 14f Canary Stakes-G3 in October, last time out she won a open stakes at 11f with a solid SP106.  Shorter distance shouldn’t hurt, look for her closing down the scretch.

BUZZARD’S NET(IRE) Has proven a solid show wager with 8 straight top 3’s, most recently three open stakes.  This field is a lot tougher, and larger then all those, but her Speed Figures are solid, so she looks capable of another top 3.

Speed Speed Speed…OTTO CAPITAL has a ton of early speed, in her last 10 starts she’s had the lead at C1, C2, and C3 ever time!  Of those she hasn’t been able to hold it into the scretch in any of her last 7, however she did hold 2nd five times including the Yellow Submarine-G1 in September.  Look for her to lead early, and try her best to fend them off coming down the scretch.

Our 2nd millionaire in the field ALMA(IRE) has a solid 33/11-4-5 record.  Recently she’s been hit or miss, 1st/6th/9th/1st/1st, all three wins were against open stakes fields.  A SP111 four back, ranks among the best, and a repeat of that performance will be need to get the win here.

CLIFDEN CASTLE is out of Sadlers Well with a 15/6-3-2 record.  She’s coming of a stakes win, and was the runner up in the 8f Pepperton Mile-G2 back in August.  She likes to stalk from the rear of the field and before making a strong kick for home.

AURUM PRADO(IRE) by El Prado with a 30/9-5-5 record,  is coming into the race off a solid 3rd place finish in the Turn The Calendar Mile-G1.  Before that she was off the board in a pair of stakes one of which was G3.  Her SP’s have been consistencly around 105, so with a minor improvement she could be a factor here.

The old timer of the field will break from the outside.  SEEKING A NATIVE By Seeking the Gold is the oldest in field at the age of 7, with 46 races under her belt and 10 wins (2 of which came in her last 3), she’s yet to win a Stakes L  Solid allowance runner will have to improve to topple this field.

Good Luck to all in this wide open field, looks like almost everyone has some sort of a chance.  J
