1 | GO | 9/1 | It seems only logical that Sabbath would have a horse entered in any race with “Disco” in it. J This 4yo filly out of an ”H” rated mare that’s available to all, has one graded victory. She knows only one way and that is go to the front and see what happens. She started her career on turf and was never OTM, but hadn’t shown an increase in SP’s. Jerry decided to try a few on dirt and she progressed accordingly. Now that she’s matured we wonder if she wouldn’t take back to that original surface. Enough speculation; back to the business at hand. After three 100+ races she has backed off somewhat in form, but last out was in horrible off-track conditions. We can’t expect anything less than an all out assault on the lead here. However, she will have to contend with a few other speedballs which will test her stamina.
2 | 5/1 |
5yo mare with a taste for bad weather. During the summer and early fall she had a six race stretch on off tracks in which she was never OTM. Today’s race is fast and that will be to her disadvantage. She also hasn’t done well in her graded tries in the past. Her last out was impressive in that she ran today’s distance with a decent SP, but that was a four horse field. Her best wins came at 9-10f. We have to pass on her for the win today.
3 | CAPOEIRA( | 8/1 |
Out of a “C” rated mare whose off spring have produced well on the track. Trainer has placed this 5yo in proper spots to attain a nice win record. She’s coming into this on a two win streak against listed. Her best SP’s have come at shorter and she also prefers to stay close to the lead. This will be a tough test for her. There is enough speed in this that she may not be able to settle into a rhythm.
4 | FUSAICHI KRISSY | 5/1 |
Scratch bred 6yo mare that is lightly raced. She just missed in the World Cup at slightly longer and has a G1win in her stats. The race sets up perfectly for her late move and she won’t have too much traffic to contend with. Coming out of a marathon in her last, she should have plenty of leg underneath. She definitely looks primed for this. Top jock doesn’t hurt either.
5 | FOREVER FOR HER | 7/1 |
Beautifully bred 5yo mare that loves today’s distance. After two W’s in listed stakes in the last three outs, she will try to step up. Given her class, we don’t think she’ll be intimidated. As to whether she’s ready for prime time yet is unknown. She is lightly raced at just 24 starts. She will be giving away a lot of ground at the beginning, so jock will have to pull the trigger at the proper moment. Jock Lyles has a habit of striking too late.
6 | FROZEN FOUR | 4/1 |
Winning almost 50% of her starts this 5yo scratch bred deserves co-favorite status. While placing in many graded events, she has yet to finish the job. One encouraging fact is that some of her best efforts have come at today’s distance. Her last eight outs have been in some very good company and she has proved she could run with them. One gets the feeling this may be her breakthrough. She is versatile in running style. Trainer is no stranger to graded stock and feels very good about this gal.
7 | AUDACITY( | 4/1 |
After coming up short in the 2006 G3 Girl’s Cap; this 6yo mare blows them away in this year’s version! To add icing to the cake it was her 1st graded win J Trainer has to be smiling. Odd thing about it was both times the race was run on an off track. This gal loves the off going. Her PP’s speak of bounces after a huge run though. L Will she follow suit here?
8 | PURITY CONTROL | 11/1 |
Coming off two listed stakes wins, this Sadler’s Wells mare is looking to find the will to crack the 100SP mark she previously had at the beginning of 2007. She will need that as her previous graded runs have not panned out. No one questions her ability to get the distance. She’s bred for class, but hasn’t shown it yet.
9 | RANDY BREEDER | 6/1 |
A 5yo over achiever. This mare has the heart it takes to overcome lesser breeding than some in this. Winning her last listed stakes in 109SP is a big boost to her confidence. She is sporadic though; and hasn’t shown that she can put back to back victories together. This being a graded event in which she hasn’t done well in the past, leaves doubts.
This should be one good race! This punter feels the speed will fold. Leaning toward the #’s 4 and 6.
