Scratch bred 3yo sired by Woodman from the Lenny Empire.  Started his career on dirt and immediately won the 1st time out with an SP82 at a mile as a 2yo.  Second try out the colt finished 2nd in a NW1X.   Most trainers would probably have continued to run the colt on dirt, but Lenny is a strange one and he decided to try turf.  Low and behold the colt won at a 1 1/16th on the grass and fired off three wins in a row.  He tailed off somewhat for 4 or so races and finally won at 9.5f in NW4X.  Lenny gets excited and places him in a G1, and then comes back to earth.  Leading up to this event the colt wins his last two outs convincingly, and Lenny boards the spaceship again.  However, this time the colt actually has a chance.

Lenny again…Starts this scratch bred sired by Theatrical on dirt as a 2yo and continues into his now 3yo season.  Gets his colt two G1 places (one in the New Yorker).  Lenny then goes to the local club; downs five Jack Daniels, and runs his colt on turf!  Insanely winning 3 out 4 starts including his last, the G1– Movieland Derby in SP114!  I tell ya, this guy is strange J  The colt likes the front but will have pressure from the outside.  Lenny just bought a fifth of JD.

One Saturday a little over a year ago, Lenny needed a starter allowance horse for 3man.  While sitting at the local club, fatattack suggested he claim this colt.  They both conspired how they would pool their stables together and take the big one down.  While they never did, this claimer colt started to show life on the turf.  After his claiming tag expired, the colt won two allowance races and then became a stakes winner.  He won his last out in a fairly weak field considering what he’s going against here.  However, the colt is in form and will try to get the jump on the late comers in this.

With 7 mil in the bank, and ranked #1 at Classic distance, Stoners is licking his chops.  It’s too bad we can’t get a post on the message board from him as it would be burning hot with replies, I’m sure!  While his personality clashes with some, his ability with sim horses is second to none.  He has eight stables with 20% or more wins.  This particular horse is a killer at 10f on the grass and certainly one that will need to be reckoned with.  He will be coming out of the clouds.  Most of the jocks in this will be whipping their steeds with their heads looking back because of the horse’s presence.  Looks fit and ready.

4yo out of a “C” rated mare that is a “producer”.  She has four progeny that are stakes quality, including two that are graded winners.  This colt is coming off a G2 win at 8.5f in his last.  This colt appears to be at his best in shorter than this event.  Colt appears to hang a little at this distance.  If the favorites have an off day, he could go Berzek!

Scratch bred by Wando.  This 3yo is really a little wet behind the ears in this.  Sire has yet to produce a graded winner.  Will he be the 1st ??  As mequire would post….LOL

Oh NO!!! Another Lenny animal.  However, this colt has some meat on the bone.  Bred out of an “F” rated mare and sired by RoG, the colt has amassed almost 6 mil in earnings.  A decent horse in his 3yo season, he has come into his own this past year.  He’s looking for his fourth graded win in a row in this.  Lightly raced and sitting in 4th position at Classic distance; he’s looking to topple the Grey noted above.  While beating that one in his last, he posted a record high SP.  Will that have taken some of the steam out of him?  Hard to say.  Lenny was unavailable for comment.

Scratch bred by Tactical Cat, this 3yo is still eligible for NW3L.  It appears trainer is trying to go through conditions while running in graded.  A difficult task to say the least.  This nice young colt may become out of sync if this continues.  He seems to have a lot of potential and may do better to get a couple more wins in listed stakes before tackling the big leagues.  He has been runner up a couple of times to the horses above.  JMO

Scratch bred 3yo by Sakhee.  Front running colt that has beaten a few of these in the past.  Colt won his last out; the G1 Eclipse Stakes.  Will most likely be the pace or force it.  Rated #1 in Classic ranking for 3yos, this guy is a star that should shine much brighter in 2008.  By then most of the older Classic turf animals will be borderline W&T, as the cycle of life goes on.  If jockey Wright rates him well, he will be tough to beat.

Interesting entry here.  5yo scratch bred by Bahri that is a career dirt listed stakes specialist at 9.5f.  Has never been beyond that distance.  Also, horse’s only run on turf was his first start as a Maiden.  While consistent on dirt and graded placed, we have to think the odds maker was smoking with Mary Jane at Lenny’s club.  Trainer has a very good win % for stables, so who knows.

Some royal blood here.  Scratch bred Sadler’s Wells 4yo that was bred late last year and has done nothing but collect big payoffs for trainer.  With only 14 starts, this colt has 9 W’s and only been OTM in 2 of them.  Has won at 10 panels early in career, but seems to be that perfect 9f horse.  A very versatile runner that can press pace or lay back; which is ideal for this event.  If this were a furlong shorter, he would be the one to beat.

5yo scratch bred by Red Ransom.  Did most of his big time damage as a 3yo and here and there in his 4yo season.  He cooled off a bit in the beginning of 2007, but trainer was intelligent enough to get him back on track in allowance company.  Has 3 listed stakes wins in a row coming into this.  A+ to trainer for placement.  The big question here is; is the horse capable of producing recent numbers in a 10 furlong event that isn’t his specialty??  We’re not going to doubt the trainer on this, as he is a dentist and we may have to have a tooth pulled at some point.

What a great race this will be.  I’m sticking with the #4 and #7 in this only because of their past experience and running style.  Don’t think speed will hold up here.
