1 3F TORCH THE FLAME super7 2/1 Kingmambo x Seattle Slew x Alydar
Record: 19 races: 9-3-3
This 3y old filly is ranked 2nd in the 3y old turf classic division and it seems like the superstables have again a superfilly in their midst. She has been in devastating form winning three out of her last four races and all have been Graded Wins. She won the World Cup race already against older mares in a top speed of 113, a speed she even improved in the BB but there she became third. Don’t forget the BB was against the boys. So I expect her to be unbeatable in the race today. Topjockey ZEUS will be leading her.
2 4F TETE OF GIBRALTAR wisbyzews 7/2 Rock of Gibraltar x Grand Lodge x End Sweep
Record: 24 races: 11-2-1
Out of Equinics winning mare TETE GRAND END and also won three out of her last four races. Unlike the filly in post one, those races were Stakesraces and not Graded Races. Her last race was the World Cup where she stood against TORCH THE FLAME and where she finished in the mid of the pack at respectable length. If she has a very good day and TORCH OF THE FLAME has a bit of an offday she is in with a chance. The jockey chosen is not the best, also not the worst.
3 5F ALBERTA GOLD bertaal 5/1 Forty Niner x Seattle Slew x Danzig
Record: 38 races: 12-5-5
bertaal sends this 5 year old mare out of FORTY NINER with a lifetime earnings of $1,390,216. She currently is ranked 38th in the divisional rankings. This mare was a 2 time stakes winner at 2, a 4 time Graded stakes winner at 3 but then was not able to find the winners circle in her 4 year old season albeit usually against the best in the division. She was dropped back down to allowance levels to start this year and promptly refound the winners circle, posting victories in 4 of her first 5 starts this year including 2 overnite stakes events. She also did race a couple of bigger Graded races and was on the board two times in a G1. She even has been posting her best speeds this year, but in her last race she completely fluked and posted only a 93. Will be difficult for her to beat a horse like TORCH THE FLAME, but might place on the board again.
4 4F PRESSURE DROP super14 7/1 Galileo x Irish River x Icecapade
Record: 27 races: 7-5-3
Second horse of the Superstables in this race, but a lot less in quality than TORCH THE FLAME. Almost 300,000 in earnings and lately been posting the best Speed figures in her career: all a little above 100. She did win two Stakes at two and one at three, but this year she has not yet been able to do that. Her last race was an allowance over a mile in a full field and she won relatively comfortable in a 101 speed figure. Let’s see whether she can give something extra in this race.
5 4F IDAHO SPUD dtheone3 10/1 Night Shift x Kris S. x Prince John
Record: 26 races: 9-6-5
End of last year we could still find this four year old filly in the claimingranks where she was cleverly claimed by her current trainer. She did skip the starter allowances and started racing in allowances of which she won two. Her first Stakes was on good ground and she immediately won it. Her last four races where all Stakes of which she won one over 9 furlongs in a respectable 99 speed figure. She did race already 15 times this year which is a lot and also never posted a +100 speed figure before, but I believe the winner of this race should be able to that. This is her first try in Graded Compagny and she still has a lot to prove but she can only get better from it.
5 3F INFERNAL TUTOR lender 8/1 Moulin x Trempolino x Apalachee
Record: 14 races: 7-4-1
Second three year old in this field and ranked 17th in the 3y old turf classic division. She is almost half a million in earnings and this will be the fifth race in a row in Graded Company for her. All four times she managed to finish in the top 5 and two starts back she even managed to win the G2 – The PRABHA Special over 8.5 furlongs. Her last race was a G1 over 9 furlongs where she finished fifth, but at 10 lengths from the winner. This Step back in class and distance will suit her perfectly and if she can overdo her performance of three races back (second in a 111 SP) she will be one to watch.
5 4F JUMRON’S MEMORY bigblueone 19/1 Jumron x Northern Dancer x Mr Prospector
Record: 8 races: 5-1-1
Here we have a filly which her trainer has hidden from racing till this year. She has the least experience of all horses today and in my opinion can only surprise us and become stronger from this race. She is only ranked at 19/1 which is also due to her speeds in her last races. She has been running allowances on turf and managed to win three out of five. Last race she stepped up in class and immediately won an overnite Stakes in a very good 104 Speed. I have no idea what this race will bring for her.
8 3F HURRICANE OCCY wabred1 10/1 Octagonal x Deputy Minister x Storm Cat
Record: 17 races: 5-2-4
Here we have the last of our three year olds in this race and she seems to have the least quality of them, at least at this point in her career. Like some others in this race she also ran the World Cup Ladies Turf Mile but she only finished 10th in that race and had no chance whatsoever. Her last race was a step back to Stakeslevel which she won without too much problems in a speed of 103. Don’t know whether she is able to really compete against this field.
9 5F POINT OUT tcrowell 9/1 Singspiel x Be My Guest x Green Dancer
Record: 36 races: 9-3-4
Five year old mare with almost half a million in earnings and racing for the unaffiliated Tcrowell stables. She comes off a very bad performance in her last race but still managed to win 3 out of her last five races. This is including a G2 win over 8 furlongs where she posted a careerbest 107 speed figure. Let’s not take the last race into account and this mare seems to be on top of her possibilities at this stage in her career. She likes to settle herself close to the back of the pack and then make her run in the final furlongs.
