BOBCAT VALLEY Looking Good in Jamaica Mon!
The SECRET SHOT Stakes
Six and one half furlongs on the Firm Turf Track
$55,000
All Horses, 2 years old
Stakes record – 2006 – KITTEN’S SIN, 1:17 4/5, SPF 81.700
BOBCAT VALLEY looks like the real deal after the brown FOREST WILDCAT colt won here at the beautiful Jamaica track in the SECRET SHOT Stakes this weekend. He tied the Stakes record and actually won quite easily against a small but talented field.
Trainer FocusForce and the Nextbonus Stables have to be excited after their colt won his third in a row after turning to the grass. This was his fastest race with an 82 SPF and he now has won three of four in his young career including two Stakes wins. The win moved him up to number 54 in the sprint turf rankings for two year olds and upped his earnings to over $88k so far in his career.
BOBCAT VALLEY was pretty much in command the entire race as he jumped to tht lead right at the bell. He was immediately challenged by pre race favorite TIME TO KILL and they went at it for a couple of furlongs. It appeared that took a lot out of TIME TO KILL as he faded badly from the three pole on and ended up in last for the race. A solid race was run by THE WAY I SEE IT and he closed a bit at the end to pull into second. BAROCK ON continued his problems for trainer Pick6King who may have to look at other surfaces and distances for this talented colt. He slipped into third past the tiring TIME TO KILL.
It appears that some questions may have been answered for trainers of these youngsters in Jamaica this weekend. Fortunately for FocusForce and BOBCAT VALLEY, those answers are looking pretty promising.
Good luck to all runners!
