Only four to go in the BIG NIJINSKY Memorial, Ascot

Hello and a warm welcome from Ascot. I am here to cover my beat and will preview race 10 on Saturdays card, the Big Nijinsky Memorial, a seven furlong stakes for 2 yo fillies and mares. The turf is firm and we have a prize fund of $90000 which has only attracted a miserly field of four. Three of these have never before seen the racecourse, although we do have a couple of nice types. Lets go through them in racecard order.

1) HIGHER THAN LIFE Shamran5 M Day Even Fav

2 yo mare

High Chaparral x War Chant x Stage Door Johnny

Nice scratchbred mare sent from Shamrans EAAA stables. Should be fit enough to do herself justice on her debut.

2) MILLVIEW CREST Wyndaway3 W Whals 5/1

2 yo mare

General Nediym x Chief Braveheart x Century

Scratchbred also making her debut.

3) PEINTRE STAR Dvtka D Thomas 2/1

2 yo mare

Peintre Celebre x Cozzene x Green Forrest

Turfy lines for this scratchbred debutante. Looks interesting.

4) AWESOME LOIS Loisblack P Harzeim 5/2

2 yo mare

Awesome Again x Sadlers Wells x Black Tie Affair

4 runs 1 win 1 second $32830

Based on a grade G horse. Purple bred mare acts as a yardstick in this race. Ran best speed figure lto when outclassed in an eight furlongs grade 1 at this very track. He faded from halfway to be beaten 10 1/4 lengths but returned a pb 69. She was stakes placed in her second run at Hong Kong when going under over six furlongs turf, always handy beaten 1 1/4 lengths and returning with a 65 speed figure. Whatever finishes in front of her today may be a half decent runner.

Pogo Predicts

Hmm not much to go on here.If anything can beat Awesome Lois, they will probably be better than average. I do like Peintre Star`s lines and Shamrans mare looks a nice one too.Im going to go for 3 to beat 1 with 4 back in third.
