Susana on a Spankie mission
PP1 – Clever Empress – Pjlracing – D Davis – 5/1 $50k claim for Mr Enforcer in October last year. Grade 3 placed LTO over a mile and a quarter, three time Stakes winner (including lifetime best 111 SP at Smackdown penultimate start) and multiple Stakes placed all beyond 10 furlongs. Likely to be up with the pace throughout and deserved Joint favourite. PP2 – Wexford County – Futurestar – L. Fenner – 8/1 Ultra consistent first season 4yo not out of the first two in ten starts this year (8-14f) including Stakes win LTO. Needs to improve to figure at this level but she is still on the upgrade. PP3 – Thexy Thong – Deadman – A. Blundin – 7/1 Solid turf router has ran well on numerous occasions at Stakes level. All four of her Stakes wins have came at 9.5f and this extra distance has in the past found her stamina lacking. PP4 – Allentown – Epic – B Van Houten – 5/1 Top end turf Allowance winner (6.5-9f). Tried Stakes for the first time LTO, staying on once headed to finish just under two lengths second. Her SP`s are right up there with the best of these but this will be the first time she`s faced Graded class animals, she is untried over this distance and 5/1 looks way too short. PP5 – Deploy The Bone – Ksparrow11 – W Lloyd – 16/1 Running in Starters until early this year. Won 13f Stakes and placed at that level LTO. Well beaten on her only try in Graded company and she lacks the raw talent of some of these competitors. PP6 – Wondergirl Cheryl – Wonder2 – W Ratzlaff – 6/1 Five time Stakes winner had narrowly failed to make the frame at Graded standard on a few occasions until his third in the G2 Dollplayer Price LTO. Even as a 6yo with 35 career starts she still has something left in the locker judging by her last run and she is one to consider. PP7 – Getaloadofthis – Fab19 – N Tippins – 8/1 Triple Stakes and Grade 3 14f Triage Distaff winner as a 3yo. Dual Grade 2 winner, twice G1 placed and not beaten far in the midfield in the Breeders Bowl at 4. Triple Stakes winner and G2 placed so far this year but she has yet to run up to the form she had shown in previous years. She usually comes right about this time of year and, with an eye on the Breeders Bowl in five weeks, Fab9 will be hoping this race sets her season alight. PP8 – Sheza Maniac – Willyam20 – B Parker – 15/1 Similar profile to Allentown albeit without the high SPs. Stepped up from Allowances into Stakes the last twice and has won and been placed. Still relatively lightly raced for a 4yo, she has the scope to improve although its hard to envisage her troubling some of these. PP9 – Oncetwicesold – au22 – N Haller – 19/1 G1/G3 placed as a juvenile but failed to live up to expectations since. Six time Allowance winner is back into this level for the first time since her 2yo days but her recent SPs hardly suggest she is ready to bounce back into form. PP10 – Deo Vindice – Sal4792 – B Simmons – 19/1 $25k claim for Sal4792 and a dual Stakes winner since joining his new connections in the middle of last year. Has always found life difficult against a better class of opposition in the past and this race should be no different. PP11 – Set The Clock – Deantroops – C Roser – 6/1 The sole 3yo in the field was a dual Stakes winner before landing the prestigious G1 English Oaks. Narrowly touched off in a G2 next time she has seemingly lost her form in her last two runs. She`s the 3rd ranked long turf 3yo and it takes some filly to win an Epsom classic so it would be no surprise to see her run well here. PP12 – Susana Rinaldi – Zledwith3 – T Blake – 9/1 Lightly raced 4yo is unbeaten in 7 turf runs including her only try at Stakes level LTO when running out a comfortable 4 length winner. She could`nt have been more impressive in rattling up this winning sequence, she deserves a step up in class and is one they all have to fear. Summary This race revolves around the proven Stakes runners Clever Empress, Getaloadofthis and 3yo classic winner Set The Clock up against the rapidly improving 4yos Wexford County and Susana Rinaldi. Allentown, who has numerous questions to answer, is readily opposed at such short odds and Wondergirl Cheryl is likely to find one or two too good. Set The Clock has to put two below par runs behind her and Clever Empress, who wont get her own way out in front, has looked more effective over slightly further. Wexford County needs to improve even more if he is to take a hand in the finish so that leaves the class mare of the field Getaloadofthis, who is due a big run, and Susana Rinalda. The preference is for the latter who has looked like a filly on the way to the very top in her last few runs. 1 – Susana Rinalda 2 – Getaloadofthis 3 – Set The Clock
