The STORM SPECIAL Bonanza Stakes,Newmarket.

Hi and welcome from Newmarket, the home of British Racing. The unpredictable British weather is forecast to smile for Saturday racing. We are here to check out race 10 on the card,The STORM REBEL Special stakes, for all 2yo`s ran over 5.5 furlongs on the fast dirt.A small but competitive field of 6 make up the field all trying to lift the winners share of the $75000 pot. They are,in racecard order:

1)CITRUS CITRUS flushed 31134

2 yo scratchbred colt by Lemon Drop Kid.5 runs 2 wins and 2 thirds $73952.Stakes winner 3 runs back over 6 1/2 furlongs at Sweden when winning by 1/2 length with a 75 speed figure.Followed that up by running 3rd in a 5.5 furlongs stakes at Germany,a;ways with the pace before just going under in the final 1/2 furlong to be beaten by 3/4 lengths.Thats good form against a couple of smart looking colts.Lto tried over 8.5 furlongs.Back to sprinting today, but he needs to improve to take a hand in the finish.Top track jock A Craig will ride this 9/2 shot.

2) MOTIVHERE bevroniii 026231

2 yo colt by Motivator out of a grade G mare .6 runs 1 win 2 seconds and 1 third $41946.Sent out of the EAAA Racing residence, this one finally broke his maiden tag lto over 7 furlongs.Ran a pb 84 that day,and that speed figure puts him in with a chance today. He has the step back down in distance to contend with however, after appearing to find his trip lto.He has ran over this trip, back at the start of June he contested a $45200 maiden at Victoria.Always handy that day he ran on into 2nd,beaten 3/4 length and recording a 74.One feels he must improve on that figure today if he is to add this stakes to his win column. He is 4/1 and J Liddle is booked.

3)CAPTURE THE MOMENT roberto 1161

2 yo colt by Kodiac out of a grade G mare.4 runs 3 wins $82740.Three runs on turf for this stakes winner,2 turf wins before trying dirt for the first time lto.Improved for the surface switch to lead from trap to wire winning over this trip with a pb 77 and breaking his stakes duck into the bargain. That puts him bang in contention here. Will again try to burn off the opposition leading from the front. He has chances at 7/2 and B Beaton will ride.

4)WAR LASS myste1111 1333

2 yo filly by War Emblem out of a grade D mare.4 runs 1 win and 3 thirds $ 14300.Put in best effort last time out when running third in a 5.5 furlongs stakes for fillies at this very track. She bravely attempted to make every yard a winning one but was caught just before the line and finished 3/4 off the leaders. She was rewarded by a lifetime best speed figure of 74 that day.She is another that will try to do it from the front, but whether she has the pace to burn off Capture the Moment remains to be seen. For me it looks a stiff enough task.T Heck is booked aboard this 6/1 outsider.

5)JAGERBOMB poolshoota 11363

2 yo scratchbred colt by Waquoit.5 runs 2 wins and 2 thirds $87400.Twice placed 3rd in two stakes races.Lto finished 3rd in a 6.5 furlongs at Honk Kong, always handy till fading a little last 1/2 furlong.Finished 3rd 2 1/4 lengths off the leader and recorded a lifetime best speed figure of 77.Also placed 3rd in a 6 furlongs stakes, again fading at the finish to go under by 3 1/4 lengths.Back at the end of April he did pick up a 6 furlongs stakes in Ireland, running a 71.For me he looks a little vunerable at this trip and another that will be trying to get a position early. Is he sharp enough to see of the horses in 3 and 4 early on?He is a 3/1 shot and J Bradley is in the irons.

6)BELONG TO ANGEL brawa 14

2 yo colt by Belong to Me out of a grade G mare.2 runs 1 win $15010.A lot to like about this ones first 2 runs.First time up led from trap to wire in a 5.5 furlongs $19600 MSW at Washington.Never troubled he duly obliged by 1 1/4 lengths and recorded a debut 74.Lto not disgraced in a hot little 6 furlongs stakes at Arizona.Led from the gun but was caught just over half way.Beaten 3 lengths into 4th but recorded a 77.This race does not look as stiff a task, and the step back down to 5.5 furlongs looks ideal.Yet another early pacer he apears to have chances at 5/2.Ni Ambrose will ride.

Pogo Predicts

Wow what a trappy little affair with lots of early pace.Im going to have to go with my instincts and im going to take 6 to beat 3.
