Seven fillies look to score their first Group 1 win in “The French Diana”
With a short field of seven vying for the Group 1 prize it may seem that the race turned up soft. That is far from the truth as so many three year old fillies are developing quickly this time of year.
The field only sports one Graded/Group winner with Duramente (JPN) filly “Thehobbitthesofa who just scored at 10 Furlongs in “The group 2 “The Griffin” , over a yielding turf surface here in Deauville France. The 10.5 furlong race over the firm going should really be to her liking, said conditioner eminc2 .
The Gr 3 placed Murky Vision has been inserted as the 5/2 second choice exiting out of the Group 1 Saint Larry where she ran a solid fourth after being shuffled back early in the race. The connection paydirt41 are looking for big things from this little filly.
Just exiting the Gr 3 Adorable 10.5 Furlong on the turf the royally bred Francene , (Frankel X Kingmambo) ran a solid third at today’s race distance. Here’s another filly that has the backside full of chatter. The conditioner pedro12 is really excited about his filly because he really feels she’s turned the corner. She been training wonderfully and is getting stronger everyday.
Storm Flare, Needed To Say, Denman The Voice, and Comeback Epsom will also go post hoping to take the next step in their racing development.
1.) Francene (7-2-4-1) 118,500 (Frankel (GB) X Kingmambo) out of Alw winner Ignite who has produced Gr 1 winner Torambo and Gr placed Cliffglider.
Still eligible for Nw3L or NW2X Francene seems to be a different horse in her past two starts with big jumps in speed figures with the added distance. The connections believe she’s only going to get better with every race. At a price of 9/2 and swinging right back with off three weeks rest may be asking to much. Francene will be one to follow but I’m going to pass today with the short rest.
2.) Storm Flare (6-1-1-2) 54,141 (Australia X Dansili (GB) out of the SP mare Woette’s Flare, producer of GP Panamerenko.
Tried GR3 competition last out which was a disaster after showing early pace before stopping cold. After hooking up with the eventually winner and runner up Storm Flare had nothing left late to finish. The 13F may have been a lot to ask of her stated connection thundyfred, we’ll dial her back a bit to a distance she’s had success .
Another dropping in with under 30 days rest. I’ll pass on her today and look for her to progress with careful placing and good spacing.
3.) Thehobbitthesofa (11-5-2-2) 379,200 (Duramente (JPN) X Galileo (IRE) out of SP mare Symbiosis, this is her only stakes performer with three foals.
Probably the pick in this stake as she has shown she can handle the distance against graded competition.
She’ll probably come away from the gate and get a good position near the lead without taxing her to much stated connections eminc2. She won’t need the lead but she will be near the pace at very least.
I Like this filly in this race as she tick’s all the boxes. The only box she missed was the name game box. Somebody please help these connection name a horse.
4.) Needed to See (14-5-4-0) 157,401(Mucho Macho Man X The Factor) out of the mare Most Harmonious producer of stakes winner Needed To See.
The conditioner jdtrot41 has placed this filly really well throughout her career with 9 of 14 starts resulting in a first or second placing. She really seems to be maturing at this time so it’s worth a try to tackle a stiff bunch like this stated handler jdtrot41. We’ll probably settler back and she what she has late. I’m a little concerned that she has only one turf start but she performed very well that day. The race turning up a little short made the decision to run pretty easy. We would really like to get that GP next to her name.
Hitting the board at 9/2 is very possible against this bunch.
5.) Denman The Voice (10-2-2-3)308,380 DenmanX Cmmands (AUS) out of the SP Command Of Death, producer of stakes winners , Denman The Voice and Commandingpresence.
Has really struggled after the Vermont For Lover G1 where she missed in the 9F affair by nose. The connection feel she may be reaching a little at this distance but they are looking for a GR 1 win to put on her resume. Trying to touch based with connection ihate2yos was rather difficult because of his hatred of the media but his daughter was willing to give us a little.
I’m thinking that this filly is a 8-9 furlong type who could win but off a 7.5 furlong allowance prep which she lost it’s hard to get in her corner. There is no doubt that she has great talent. I’ll will look elsewhere but I may be proved wrong by a classy filly.
6.) Comeback Epsom (9-3-1-1) 95,794 (Harzand (IRE) X Montjeu out of the gr 1 winning mare Gorgeous Trickster, producer of three stakes placed horses, Way Of A Comeback and Specialism.
After talking briefly with handler’s goldstable it became very clear that they were here to win. They feel that she’s really taking big step forward and will are confident that she’ll run a big in the French Diana. I voiced my concern with the lack of distance preps and they just told me that she is bred to run all day long. We have little concern with the distance, just the competition. There are few good ones in here and we’ll have to be at our best to beat them.
I’m a little concerned if the horse will relax enough to get this distance after so many sprints. If she succeeds it will be a great training feat in my opinion. I’ll pass on her but the connections and their confidence make me a little apprehensive.
7.) Murky Vision (11-2-2-1) 148,254 (Distorted Humor X Affirmed) scratch bred
The connections of Murky Vision, paydirt41 feels that with the right trip and pace anything is possible. Our filly is kind of a grinder who sometimes gets a little to relaxed early in the race. We’ve tried a few equipment changes trying to get her more into the race early but nothing has been successful as of yet. There’s no secret that we are looking for a big pace so we have a shot late in the race. These fillies are changing with every race so we are willing to take a stab in here.
This horse makes up huge ground in the stretch. I really think it will be hard to catch Thehobbitthesofa from so far back. If they can get her a little more interested early it could allow this filly to run a solid second.
MY PICKS 3-1-7-4
Haha thanks duanecrisp for touting Hobbit. There’s a story behind the name but I agree it is inelegant.
I see,,,, LOL , I have had a few of those over the years.
Haha yeah. Of course I gave the funny name to a breeding that I wasn’t expecting much from either! Goes to show what I know 🙂
Congrats on the grade 1 win Spinround
