Buckeye Blitz – 8/26/17 Pt. 1

Hello, and thanks for reading the Buckeye Blitz, your premiere insider to Ohio racing. These articles will give you some quick commentary on some of the more prominent horses in the races, as well as some bold predictions.

 

Loaded card set for Saturday, highlighted by the Teeny Weeny Turf Sprint Stakes. Another sun filled day in store for you, with a high near 76. Track listed as fast and firm.

 

 

Race #1 (Post Time 11:30am)

Allowance NW2x, 4yr old +

9 Furlongs – Turf

 

#1 SPIRIT IN SHADE 21-1 • 2 for 22 lifetime, behind on SP #’s, not today.

#2 KODIAC MOON 13-1 • No late kick recently, and might prefer shorter going.

#3 HIDDEN TEMPLES 7-1 • Repeat of three back puts him right in this. Must find his late kick.

#4 OH MY STAR 10-1 • Seems to prefer dirt, 0 for 5 lifetime on grass. Would need career best.

#5 WAKITARIAT 5-1 • Recent runs are strong, too bad they were on dirt. Lost last on turf by 10.5.

#6 SPIRITED DISCOURSE 11-1 • Improving with 2 straight on the course. Dangerous at a price.

#7 HOPSLAMMED 8-1 • Experience won’t always win. 2 for 31 lifetime and needs more.

#8 YAMB FIDLER 7-1 • Most wins of the bunch. Steps down from open alw and has a late gear.

#9 SMART N SNAZZY TED 19-1 • Tries turf again after 5 unsuccessful dirt runs. Not likely.

#10 IM NOT HANDSOME 10-1 • Found new life after switching to turf. Will come from the clouds.

#11 LUMINARY WARRIOR 18-1 • I do believe the claiming ranks are in this ones future.

#12 CITY OF DESPAIR 5-1 • Super sharp and steps up in class. Strong contender.

#13 SLIGO BOUND 106-1 • Lightly raced and first against winners, watch one.

#14 RICULA 9-1 • May get out to an uncontested lead. He’ll be the one to catch.

10 Furlongs – Dirt

 

#1 ZAP’S GHOST 4-1 • 1 of 3 in field that’s a SW. Career best last out SP#. Looms large.

#2 ANGEL’S SKY MECCA 5-1 • Likely speed duel will hurt chances. Needs the lead.

#3 BLIND CORNER 7/2 • A return to his off the pace style will increase his chances.

#4 JUBILEE JUG BAND 9/2 • Top SP# in field last out (120)! Will look to stalk and pounce late.

#5 TAPIT IN SILVER 27-1 • Up against the SP#’s here. Needs a miracle.

#6 OZZZY EXPRESS 6-1 • Hasn’t been the same since coming back from layoff.

#7 BURNIN BULLET 6-1 • Another likely pace dueler. Must get the jump on others to contend.

#8 LUMP SUM PAYOUT 9/2 • Will be on/near the pace from the bell. Rider must conserve rally.

#1 LUCK IN TINY DOSES 8/5 • First out winner with top Sp#. Should roll on to victory.

#2 ROCKAMIN 4-1 • Took 4 attempts to get first win. Needs improvement to contend.

#3 MARIA ELENA 4-1 • Showed speed in all three races. Will play catch me if you can.

#4 ELUSIVE STONES 9/2 • Flattened in stretch last out going 7.5 furlongs. Expect better here.

#5 DELMAR CANDY 8-1 • On the improve. Needs to not get left behind like last out.

#6 BUZZ BUZZ 4-1 • Another first out winner in for his second bow. Daughter of a SW.

Starter Allowance, 3yr old Filly

12 Furlongs – Turf

 

#1 SCOPIOCCO 9/2 • The stretch out last race produced lifetime best SP. Contender.

#2 PYE ROE 8-1 • Never been close to todays distance. Looking elsewhere.

#3 COUNT THE RHYTHM 7-1 • First try against winners here will be tough. Could wire field.

#4 FLAWED PROCESS 5-1 • Didn’t like the wet going last out. A repeat of 2 back puts him there.

#5 UP TO THEM 8/5 • Only one in field to crack 90+ SP’s, has done so on two surfaces.

#6 SUNDAY IN HELSINKI 5-1 • Like the pedigree, just not the SP’s. Needs a new best.

#7 DAD’S SPIRIT 6-1 • 0 for 4 routing, and faded badly in last two. Not likely today.

#1 STAR FODER 8-1 • Big class hike after career best effort. May be too much.

#2 MASTER TREASURE 19-1 • First attempt against winners. Has dangerous speed.

#3 AMBELLINA 6-1 • Best surface and distance still unknown. Likely to be sent, maybe?

#4 STORMIN UP FRONT 13-1 • Has a case of seconditis. Stretches out with speed.

#5 WILKO’S IMAGE 87-1 • Wish upon a star.

#6 EATING CROW 3-1 • Excellent efforts on dirt and turf. Cuts back, and down in class.

#7 CARDINAL CASHEL 6-1 • ITM in 4 of 5 on dirt. Last 2 efforts on turf have produced best SP#.

#8 IMPOSING COLONY 5-1 • Owns top SP# of field. Pace of race will be key.

#9 SUZY E HUSTLER 5-1 • The distance has been too much in past, and likely again.

#10 APESTOSA 9/2 • Has the right running style for this. Comes in off long layoff.

#11 VALENTINES PXG 64-1 • Needs a Red Bull and someone at finish line waiving red jacket.

#1 SERIOUS TUDE 33-1 • Hasn’t sniffed money since Feb. 2016. Lost by double digits in 8 of 9.

#2 AWESOME RULER 11-1 • Matched career best, first try on dirt last out. Exotic play.

#3 STORMIN SUSAN 87-1 • Needs a storm to cancel todays card.

#4 HAZEL EYED DEVIL 3/5 • Top everything in race, yet is still 1 for 26 lifetime.

#5 SAVED SUMMER 5/2 • Class and distance suits this daughter of a G2 winner.

#6 FLY NOT FOR FREE 5-1 • Needs the claiming class drop here. Must find an extra kick.

#7 BACKMASTER CHROME 60-1 • Has late pace. May be best of the also rans.

#8 TIE TAB 52-1 • First sprint attempt. Has not shown any go from the gate. Not today.

#9 GULCH THIEF 20-1 • Her first try at winners didn’t go so well. May be good enough for show.

#10 MAN CHEET 103-1 • 4^th start from a 3 year absence. Probably needed to stay retired.

Stakes (Teeny Weeny Turf Sprint), 3yr old +

5.5 Furlongs – Turf

 

#1 OBLIVIATE 7/2 • Must be ready to tangle with the favorite on the front end. Pace casualty.

#2 INN FORMATION 13-1 • Inn for a tough assignment. Stalking style helps chances.

#3 CRIMINOLOGY 7/2 • Will look to pull the last to first move in stretch. A lot to like!

#4 LOVE THE STARS 8-1 • Son of top turf sire seems to prefer the dirt. Last on turf was bad.

#5 SALUTE TO LEE 5/2 • Speedball type looking to hit the 500k mark. Will have company.

#6 LEASE A WIRE 6-1 • Been fading in 5 of last 6. Best efforts were on lead. Looking elsewhere.

#7 KWIK KIRBY 7-1 • Class jump off of two fourth place finishes? Another pace casualty.

#8 BUCKET O BUCKS 7-1 • Winner of 2 in a row with increasing SP figures. Interesting.

#1 CHRISTMAS MISSION 5-1 • Comes up in class from a dull effort in 8k claimer. Not for me.

#2 ROCKSOV 5-1 • Very sharp right now and takes class jump following 2 straight wins.

#3 WILL RED 16-1 • Hoping for the drop and pop. Needs career best effort for a piece.

#4 GIANT WATER HOLE 7/2 • Shows solid form. Looks for first win on dirt. Beaten fav 2 back.

#5 SNOW MONKEY 5-1 • Has given no return since being claimed by bigeasy0 6 back.

#6 LUCIFUGE 15-1 • In over his head like usual. Trainer might want to look to claiming ranks.

#7 STRIKE A BULB 4-1 • Last start on dirt was in 2015. Has a few decent ones on turf recently.

#8 TIZ KIRBY AGAIN 14-1 • Now racing for 4^th owner. Unlikely improvement looming.

#9 TRINNIDAWG 16-1 • Likes to be on the lead, but has been unable to sustain bid on dirt.

#10 SCREEN TESTED 12-1 • Sneaky good two back. Just missed last out on off going. Maybe.

#1 ETONE CAINE 60-1 • First time against winners in 9 starts. Needs to gain 20 SP to contend.

#2 RECTORY 39-1 • Improved off the layoff and stable change. Opportunity at a price.

#3 BARB’S BLING 3-1 • Mid-pack runner shows consistently positive SP’s. Major contender.

#4 WARRIORS APPEAL 8-1 • ITM in 6 of 8. Needs to get involved earlier.

#5 VIZCARRONDO 62-1 • Likely to pass tiring horses in stretch. Lacks speed.

#6 NO NAME STREET 3/2 • The favorite will need to get going early, as there is no pace in here.

#7 GEORGE AYSCUE FAIL 10-1 • Was over 14 lengths back last time on a fast dirt course.

#8 BIG PURSUIT TED 79-1 • Pedigree is great……. Yep, that’s it.

#9 MR WIENER 9/5 • The name says it all. Has not faired well in sprints, 1 win from 9 starts.

6.5 Furlongs – Dirt

 

#1 PAT DOWN PADDY 6-1 • Couldn’t sustain bids going 7-8 furlongs. Tries shorter now.

#2 DEPLORABLE 9/5 • Last 2 efforts were good, missing by a combined 2 lengths. Contender.

#3 LOS ANGELES FOREST 27-1 • Failed to hit the board in last 13 starts. Not going to happen.

#4 SUPER MACHO MAN 9-1 • Improving colt gets the man back in the saddle (L. Herren).

#5 LASER SPEED 11-1 • Son of G1 winning millionaire. Been feeling the seconditis bug.

#6 KYOWA JONES 15-1 • Another with speed that doesn’t seem to be able to hang on at the line.

#7 BRANDED MAN 17-1 • Getting better every race. Will need a boost to contend here.

#8 CIARDUNA 6-1 • Just missed last out here vs similar on the lead. Must avoid pace duel.

#9 STELLAR WEATHER 153-1 • Third start of career, first on dirt. Will need a miracle.

#10 BONE ENOB 5/2 • In against tougher last out. A repeat of two back puts him in the mix.
