More Controversy in OLD MAN Series!

The Old Man of the Mountains Series II – Race 3
A mile and three quarters on Fast Dirt
$50,000
All horses, 8 years old and up, Non-Winners of ONE within the last 6 months

Controversy abounds again after the third chapter of the OLD MAN OF THE MOUNTAIN Series II. There were actually two controversies, one on each end of the race. At the front end, GreenIrish, owner and trainer of race winner BEER RUN accused Harry Holman, the jockey of THE COW’S MOO of not only holding back at the end but impeding the progress of HELPER BOP, helping his horse BEER RUN to win the race but also knocking him out of the series unless the host T. LOCK wins again to change the restrictions. He filed an official protest but race officials were unable to definitively find any foul. You can look at the 3D View of the Foul in Question at the left. This allows THE COW’S MOO to move into fourth place but more importantly is the lone remaining horse in that top four that is still eligible to race in the series.

At the other end of the race, Sun Dial leader BELL COGNAC’s owner Cabin questioned the possibilities that LYNCHBURG LEMONADE could possibly finish behind his horse without the aid of some questionable help. He should wonder as his horse finished last in the first two circuits of the OLD MAN OF THE MOUNTAIN series II with amazingly slow 35 SPFs. This time he even went slower with a 31 SPF and still finished several length ahead of LEMONADE who ran a snail-like 25 SPF. The two of them were so far back that the leaders were already back in their stables after the required photos and cool down! No wonder they call it the “SUN DIAL” award. LYNCHBURG LEMONADE’s owner Ravin was said to have remarked that you should ask Cabin about what it takes to make a horse finish at the end of the pack!

Race Host T. LOCK had a better showing this time with a sixth place finish, giving some of the waiting winners of the race some hope that he could pull one out and allow them back in.

In the race itself, newcomer MISTER INNOCENT started the race like it was like it was buffet time at the Shoney’s and he wanted to be first in line. He looked to go wire to wire but ran out of gas badly at the top of the stretch. He ended up in eighth. Our third place finisher was the aforementioned, THE COW’S MOO who did look quite happy to finish in the money but stay eligible for the series championship. HELPER BOP looked worn out but hung on for second.

Now there is a race for the last place standings which BELL COGNAC looked like he had wrapped up. Another last place finish by LYNCHBURG LEMONADE would really tighten that “race” up.

Like I said last time, almost anything can happen in this marathon series. It looks like that has already started to be the case. Stay tuned Race Fans!

Best of luck to all of these fine old guys and gals!
