As part of the Mega Equinics celebration, in which 32 races will be run to crown champions that forever will be enshrined into SIM History, the three year old classic routers will be entering the gate to compete in The Blazing Saddles Pilgrim Tribute. Some of these colts have already tested the graded stakes ranks, hoping for some Triple Jewel glory, and there are others that still have hope their horses will be a force to be reckoned later in the year and in their four year old campaigns. The sponsor residence of this race, Blazing Saddles, sends this colt, who draws the all important rail post in this two turn event. This colt is putting it all together at the right time, winning his last two outings since switching back to the dirt. His last start was a resounding win in the Grade II Swamps Stakes down in sunny California, and now travels cross country for his Grade I debut. His trainer mtk3man3 is very confident his colt will have a say when all the marbles are counted, and hopes for a salty pace upfront for his late run to be effective. Improving colt that has to be considered a contender in this race.

Although he has only eight lifetime starts, he has been pretty tested already, running in three Grade Is so far. The problem is that his showings have not been all that encouraging, been soundly beaten in each and every one of them. The fellows from the Sim Hispano residency are hoping that the change in tactics they employed last time out with him, in which he was left way behind the field to be beaten just three and a half lengths in the Grade II Princess Cup, bring them to the winners circle now. At the moment though, can not recommend to be in the top three.

This colt represents the All Stars Racing residency, and has figured at Grade II and Grade III level. Now he takes a step up in class, but trainer desertdog10 thinks the ten furlong distance is just what the doctor ordered. Questions now arise as he comes from a two month layoff after a bit of a sub par effort in the Grade II Buckeye Derby, a race in where he was well backed by the bettors. He definitely needs to improve, but we can not say he is a complete throw out. Probable exotics player.

One of the least experienced colts in this bunch, with only six lifetime starts he has already shown nice talent. This horse is the flag bearer for the Megalopolis residency, and they think they have a gem in their hands. After three straight wins, he tested the graded waters in his last time out, going in the Grade I Clerk of Scales, in which he was definitely way over his head. Now he has the experience, and trainer fastnsmall thinks he is working much better for this race than for the last one, and looks to be much more forwardly placed than on the Clerk of Scales. Outside chance, but thinking he will be a force to be reckoned with later in the year.

Well, this is my horse, and residency DelPenn will be represented by a colt who in still is development. There is no question he is got some talent, and, at least on dirt, the farther he has traveled, the better he has run. Maybe the Grade I waters are too deep for him right now, but I am very confident he can be a very useful classic horse, not only on the main strip, but also over the grass, in which he won his debut. He is sharp, ready to represent our group, and God only knows what’s in store for us. But betting wise, I have to side with others first.

The #2 ranked classic three year old in the Sim, he is one of only three Grade I winners in the field. He is without a doubt, in the best shape of his career, winning a Grade I and a Grade II as part of a three race streak that saw him lose only in the Middle Jewel, and by less than a length. Residency Universal Racing Club members think, and with good reason in my opinion, that their horse should be the post time favorite, so they are here with a chip in their shoulder, as the Morning Line Maker relegated him to a close third choice. He should come flying down the stretch at it is my choice to win, at juicy 9/1 odds.

This speedy colt is representing the EHTeam residency, and we have just confirmed with trainer pher that the will try to send him to the lead or have him stalking very close to the leader. Since they have change this colt’s style of running, results have been much better, but know he is facing his stiffest test yet. His first stakes try was a convincing win in a listed stakes, but know he will need to show he belongs here, with much more speed penciled into the race and with much better horses around him. But he has already shown he can negotiate the ten furlongs without much trouble and if he can have an easy lead, watch out.

The representative from the Minnesota Testbarn Residency comes to this race with only one maiden win, but he has run well enough to be considered for this event. Trainer fastracing obviously was thinking way ahead of his last race, in which he sent his colt into a hot race at seven furlongs. He didn’t win, but most probably he was looking to built the necessary foundation for this ten furlong race. He loves to come from way off the pace, and he looks to pick up the pieces late, if a speed duel forms. But for the moment, seems like this guy is a little bit over his head.

Very nice colt, and a Grade I winner already. He represents the always solid Queensland residency. Up to May, he was in the midst of a five race winning streak. Then, he has turned two somewhat dull efforts, although in that most recent one, he showed some signs of getting back to his best form. His trainer magpies01 is betting on his talented colt to turn his best lifetime race, and he will need it to win here. This colt is accomplished, but looking at his last two, I prefer the wait and see approach, as the 9/1 odds do not seem enticing enough for a risk to be taken.

The Euro residency makes his presence felt with this very useful colt. His trainer altona3a is a firm believer in local racing, so he has run this horse only in his local track of Tasmania. Now he takes his game to a whole new level, in a whole new continent, against a whole bunch of better horses. He has yet to break the 100 SF mark, and that is a big hurdle to jump, besides that his last race was a pretty bad effort itself. He knows how to win, but the quality of the horses he has beaten and the question about getting out of his comfort zone are too much for my liking.

Powerful residency GR Simsters is represented by this nice looking Dubawi colt, who has been penciled in as the Morning Line co favorite, at odds of 7/1. It is interesting, because this horse has not been able to win yet at the Graded level. He has run very well, but still not graded glory. He likes to be sitting in the garden spot, and his post position will enable him to be in the perfect stalking position for his late push, which should happen from the half mile pole on. The Radzinski brothers know how to get the best out of him, and if he can rate better, he will be dangerous, although at 7/1 is not the most intriguing betting proposition.

He was doing great at the beginning of the year, to the point that he fell just a neck short of winning the Florida Derby. However, he ran in every Triple Jewel race, and didn’t fare well at all, running worst every further race. So trainer kashbred3, from the East West Connection residency, gave him a two month rest, and is coming into this race with slow gallops, trying to help his colt recover from such a hard schedule. His race shape at the moment is questionable to say the least, so I will wait and see how he runs after this time off. Will side with others.

The host residency Vermont, sends a very fast and beautiful roan colt. He is one of the speed balls in this race, so trainer last1 would have prefer to be a little bit further inside on the gate. But he will need to manage that, and will most probably will need to come from close to the pace to have a better chance. A big question mark for this colt is his ability to run the ten furlongs distance, and with other horses already proven in this regard, seems like a big obstacle to overcome. Not sold completely on him, prefer others.

This colt represents the Racing HQ residency, and he will make his stakes debut in this tough spot. He has been a bit of money burner, with no wins and four second place finishes in 2016. Trainer bmr010 understands his horse will need to improve dramatically in order to have a chance here, but, on that same page, he is one who thinks the only horse not standing a chance is the one that stays in the stall. He has displayed nice speed, so he can be a presence in the initial stages, but other than that do not see him as a contender. Pass.

The British and Nordic Racing Club residency makes its presence felt with this son of 2001 Breeders Cup Classic runner up, Sahkee. He has shown affinity to both grass and dirt, but his best figures have come up so far on the main strip. However, he still has to prove he can compete on the dirt with horses of this caliber. Another questions that’s till on the air is his ability to run the classic ten furlong distance. Definitely will need to improve on his best effort so far to stand a chance, and the morning line maker tends to agree, as he assigned a whopping 50/1 ML odds to him.

Untested and inexperienced son of the great Elusive Quality. He will be carrying the MIDAS residency colors, and what an unenviable task has been assigned to him by veteran trainer shagfarms6. This colt has not raced yet at the stakes level, so the step up is way way up for him. He has shown some nice turn of foot coming out of the gate, but other than that not much else. His best race so far is a non winners of two allowance win, so you can see he will need to improve dramatically to at least figure in here. 51-1 odds are more than justified here.

The Comedy Central residency makes their appearance in this race with this very nice colt, and, although he has been pegged at 35-1 by the odds line maker, you can see some talent here. He started his career on the turf, a logical step being by Pivotal, but then trainer shag2 tried him on the main track, and the results have been much much better so far, with two wins in four tries, and showing signs of being a future nice stayer. Maybe this Grade I is too much for him right now, but don’t be surprised to see this guy competing effectively as a four year old in long routes, as he still has lots of room for improvement.

The most experienced from this field with fourteen lifetime starts, this California bred son of the good sire Unusual Heat will be representing the Elite residency. This horse was claimed by his trainer aam in late December for a mere $15,000, and his investment has proven to be a good one so far, with four wins and seven out of eight times in the money. Has been climbing up the ladder slowly, but this is a very hard race for him. I don’t envision him figuring, but it’s nice to see that former claimers can improved to the point of showing in a Grade I later. 31/1 tells the story here for him, but I’ll cheer for him to do well.

Royally bred Grade I winner that will be the representation for the powerful Empire State Racing residency. His resume speaks for itself, with two wins in his last two tries on the main strip. His last race was his first trying the green stuff, and he came up just short in the listed Brown Dancer Turf Route, a race that probably served him as a nice bolt tightener for this race, which was the one that trainer blankpoin6 had in mind since a while ago. The nineteenth post does not do him any favors, but he is a late closer anyways. Will be coming from way off the pace late and he must be in the top three for consideration.
