Delta River takes Hot Canvas S. in a thriller

Imatiger’s Delta River, who appeared hopelessly beaten at the quarter pole, took the Hot Canvas S. at Upper New York in an exciting three-horse finish. The 3-year-old Awesome Again colt, making his first start against his elders, rallied from twelve lengths back to overtake the front running Latest Score.  Latest Score, who appeared to have the race wrapped up with a furlong to run, had no answer for the winner’s late charge. Favored Kabuki also made a huge late run, but had to settle for third, three-quarters of a length behind Latest Score. Here Comes Eddie was never in contention, and Apparent was eased, tiring badly after tracking the early pace.
