Seven Routers Set

(SP)Wyoming- Once again the WRC reaches into the past and brings back an old race honoring multiple stakes winner. The WRC is hoping to keep the excitement that last weeks renewal had generated. Although the race did have better speeds than the original, it did not come close to the competitive ending. This weeks revisit to the past is the Bustfully Throw Challenge which will cover then furlongs on the dirt. The race is for four year and older horses. There are seven entrants this week and they will have to push themselves if they wish to match the last challenge race’s speeds. Here are the seven up close and personal.

Southern Car Ted entered by cashstable. This light grey colt returns to Wyoming for this attempt at stakes level. The front runner loves the distance and has been very strong on his last few runs. He has already garnered a show at stakes level this year and is looking for his breakthrough win. He should be at the front at the end, but seems to choose bridesmaid more often than not.

Being Missed(GB) entered by guch23. This elder British chestnut comes in as one of three early favorites. This closer does well at routing distances and has grabbed a couple of stakes wins along the way. The knock with him is his running style. He has a tendency to throw out a monster race and come back with a mediocre one the next time out. His last run was a monster effort, so I leave it to the racing public to draw their own conclusions.

Savage Frontier entered by husky. This chestnut horse comes in after recently returning to the dirt. This closer still performs well whether it be on the grass or dirt. He is looking to return to the stakes winner circle after two seasons. It must be pointed out that all his stakes level wins have been on the grass, although his recent speeds point to him being in the mix at the end.

Slither entered by peeps6. This elder chestnut comes in as one of the early favorites. He has been running strongly his last few outings and started the year with a respectable show in a graded stakes attempt. The closer has drawn the top jockey in Jesse Sands and that can only enhance his chances, but definitely must not be the last out of the gates.

Apple Splash entered by jarid. This pacesetter is the final early favorite for Saturday. He comes in after a monster effort last time out that only ended in a place showing. What this will do to his confidence for this week is anybody’s guess. He usually breaks out at the front and takes it from there but seems to have a stamina problem the more often he runs. He has a nice rest so is primed to go.

Heavenly Hotlink entered by goldcity. This dark grey colt comes in off a very poor start to the season. The last part of last year was ended in strong fashion with a graded win in the lists. He had a very heavy racing season last year and it makes a person wonder if he has been pushed to an early burn out. This race is crucial for his future racing starts.

Academic Cause(IRE) entered by pedroza. This Irish colt comes in showing a steady increase in ability. The stalker has a win for his season opener and looks to build on that with a win here. The trainer has been working on strength the last few races and believes the horse is ready to tackle stakes level again with a stronger result. For the best result Saturday, the horse needs to break from the gates near the front.
