The Dancer R. Special for 2 year old fillies

A small field of 6 will contest The Dancer R. Special in New York and a chance for a young filly to make a name for herself.

The field as it stands looks something like this;

Wheels of Steel                                                                                   5/1

(Cryptoclearance x El Gran Senor x Riverman)                              worldwide

This filly out of Cryptoclearance started her career off well with 2 wins from her first 3 races.

However, her last two efforts have been somewhat disappointing and below the general standard of this small field.

She is coming off a 7 week break so perhaps she can recapture her form from 3 runs back and move forward as she goes into her 3 year old year.

Place chance.

Cornerback                                                                                        4/1

(Smarty Jones x Pine Bluff x Deputy Minister)                                      lenny

I believe it has been said before that everybody hates lenny and with horses like this one that just refuse to run poorly I can understand why.

Won well last start with a promising speed figure and should continue to improve here.

Certainly a good chance of winning her first stakes race in a small field.

Good claims.

Magical Myth                                                                                       3/1

(E Dubai x Storm Cat x Alydar)                                                     euroalien

I’m sure we all wish we had a horse with this breeding sitting around in our yard.

A promising last few starts seem to hint that this filly on the improve and trainer euroalien will definitely be looking for a big 3 year old year from her.

As for her chances here, she is a bit shorter than she might be due to her last 2 runs but is still a good chance here if she runs at her best.

Good chance but shortish odds.

A Case In Point                                                                                   3/1

(Point Given x Aptitude x Storm Cat)                                           goodtimes

Although she’s at the same odds as the previous filly, a quick comparison of their short careers suggests that A Case In Point is the stronger of the two.

Two starts back she streamed past the early leaders to comfortably win a Grade I with a very respectable 91 SP.

No other horse in this field has broken the 90 SP mark yet so if she’s on her game, this promising filly will be very tough to beat.

Hard to go past her in a small field.

Redoute’s World (AUS)                                                                        5/2

(Redoute’s Choice x Spinning World x Spectacular Bid)                       kensei

The favourite of the field and already with 3 stakes wins to her name, this Australian-sired filly cannot be discounted.

She has done her best work in sprints and may find this distance a little long especially with her leading style.

She’s only gone this distance once and was placed in a graded race on that occasion so she’s certainly capable if she can get the distance.

Jockey B Child will be looking to get her out to an insurmountable lead to wire the field which is her only chance of winning here.

Good chance but maybe just a little too far for her.

Green Diesis (GB)                                                                                6/1

(Diesis (GB) x Green Applause x Roi Danzig)                                      pisano2

Despite being a stakes winner and a promising juvenile, this is our outsider of the small field.

She has only reached an 80 speed figure once and that was her sole stakes win at this trip.

Doesn’t have a set running style and it seems it has been chopped and changed a fair bit by her trainer pisano2.

Was beaten well and truly 2 starts back by A Case In Point, and I can’t see her reversing that here.

Place chance at best.

Well that’s it. Only 6 horses to compete here and just about any of them can take this one out with a little bit of luck and a good performance.

Personally, I’ll take 4-5-2 in a close one.
