MINNESOTA FESTIVAL DISTAFF STAKES

 

It’s the longest race of the day at the Minnesota Festival as 16 Fillies are set to race on a fast main track over 14 Furlongs with a purse of $125,000.

 

1, THE TRIP 4yo F (Minesaft x Theatrical(IRE) x Secretariat) A winner of 4 races from 35 starts but looks to be at best around 8f-9f, Has managed a place and a show when tried over further as a 3yo but will probably need to step up on recent allowance form to take a hand in the finish here, Might handle the step up in distance and place hopes at best for trainer Crush83 at odds of 17-1 with Jockey B Craver Aboard.

 

2, GYPSY ANGEL RO 4yo F (Doneraile Court x Our Native x Bold Reason) A winner of 7 races from 26 starts and in the money at stakes level 5 runs back for Trainer dundey7, Plenty of early speed and likely to be one of early pacesetters, Steps back up in trip here did not last to the wire on her only previous try at distance and could set up the race for the closers, A Scott rides at odds of 9-1.

 

3, BEHAVIOURBONE 4yo F (Red Ransom x Storm Cat x Khairpour(IRE) 2 wins from 27 starts, Both of those wins have come over sprint distances and this 4yo offspring of Red Ransom may find the competition a little hot to handle over this trip. Sporting entry and im sure trainer Skanky will enjoy the thrill of participating on Minnesota’s biggest day of the year.  Jockey B Ireland rides at odds of 99-1

 

4, OPPENHEIMER(IRE) 4yo F (Galileo(IRE) x Peintre Celebre(IRE) x Criminal Type) 8 Wins from 33 starts, Has winning form at stakes level earlier this year, Proven form upto a mile and a quarter and in with a chance if handling the extra distance, Another who should be up front with the early pace.. S Foster rides for trainer mike7farms at odds of 8-1.

 

5, REDWOOD SCREWBALL 4yo F (Red Ransom x Woodman x Nureyev) Lightly raced filly only seen out twice since running down the field in the Derby on last years festival card for trainer Supertoy07, Multiple Stakes winner and also placed at Graded level and is the definate class in the field here winning 6 of 20 starts but crucially all of them on the Turf, Distance likely to suit but the big question is can she perform to the same level on the dirt?, Jockey T Ruettgers rides the favourite at odds of 5/1. Looks opposable with doubts about Fitness, Surface and Low % rider.

 

6, MOVIE IN TUX RYRY(IRE) 3yo F (Theatrical(IRE) x Black Tie Affair(IRE) x Lyphard’s Wish(FR) Comes here with a 4 wins from 9 starts, Two of those wins at stakes level. Already proven without a doubt that she handles the surface and the distance, looks to have a bright future ahead for trainer ryry over the longer routes. Top Jockey K Friar rides and at odds of 14-1 could be an outstanding bet.. Big Chance

 

7, NESSY ALYFAY 3yo F (Hennessy x A.P.Indy x Alysheba) 3 wins from 18 starts for this Hennessy filly, Solid allowance form up to 9f and going into the unknown regards the trip for trainer burnin and another likely to battling for the lead early on..      S Upertoy rides at odds of 9-1.

 

8, GILBRALTAR’S LUCK(IRE) 3yo F (Rock Of Gibraltar(IRE) x Barathea(IRE) x Upper Nile) Another sporting entry, Still a maiden after 19 lifetime starts, Possibly prefers turf but does look like the extra distance could suit, Could pick up a race somewhere when dropped to lower grade in the future. Would be a shock winner here though for trainer alba3 who will surely enjoy the buzz of being part of the festival, R Vanlandingham rides at odds of 99-1

 

9, PHYNAL APPROACH 4yo F (Cherokee Run x Silver Deputy x Niniski) Good record of 9 wins from 22 starts, Has won over todays distance and although all recent form is at claiming level could eaisily run into a place with so many runners trying this trip for the first time.Going to post as a 12-1 shot for Trainer Theodore13 with A Beasley doing the steering.

 

10, IN THE NAVY(GB) 4yo F (In The Wings(GB) x Polish Navy x Ogygian) Making her second apperance at a Minnesota Festival is trainer Rharfo6’s filly, A Winner of 4 from 23 starts this In The Wings filly looks to have a decent chance in this field, Distance and Surface not a problem here and will be there or thereabouts.. K Bowen rides this 11-1 chance.

 

11, DESPERADO’S MAMBO 3yo F (Kingmambo x Sadler’s Wells x Nijinsky II) Another filly who comes here with a great record 8 starts resulting in 5 visits to the winners circle for trainer desperado4, Winning effort first time in stakes company last time over the shorter trip, but no problem with the trip here either. Improving with every run and looks sure to be there down the stretch here. Another with a bright future ahead.. P Green rides at odds of 11-1.

 

12 , BLACK PEN ONLY 3yo F (Lion Heart x Rubiton(AUS) x Glitterman) 4 wins from 23 starts, Running well in allowance company but steps up to stakes level here for the first time and another one trying the distance for the first time, If she handles it she might not be far away at the finish. K Ritterspauch rides at odds of 9-1 for trainer Cardinal10.

 

13, GOLDMINE GLITTER 4yo F (Mineshaft x Kris.S x Mr.Prospector) 3 wins from 27 starts, But for races 10f+ 13 starts picking up a cheque 12 times.. Including all 3 wins.. Shows there is no problem with the distance here. Has been in solid form in allowance company of late and this is her first outing in stakes company. Might need to improve Speed Figures to factor here but clearly trainer richgins has her in the form of her life… Outside chance at 28-1 with J Ritorto aboard.

 

14, JUST BEFORE AGAIN 3yo F (Just Beforemidnite x Awsome Again x Northern Dancer) Another promising 3yo, 5 wins from 9 starts, Not finished out of the first two places for trainer Chuckrock on last 8 starts. All wins have been on turf including a win at stakes level. 0-2 on the dirt but if you ignore the debut in a sprint race, The only other start on dirt produced a 2nd place over 10f.. Does have to prove the extra distance will suit but if it does and can produce the turf form on dirt she could go well. 8-1 shot with D Macknamara up.

15, SILVERFLY’S TIGER 4yo F (Hold That Tiger x Silver Hawk x Gone West) 7 wins from 28 starts for trainer theodore6, Shown solid form consistantly up to 10f including a stakes win 5 runs back and possible the step up in trip could suit.. Not sure if she will like the dirt though?. D Gordon rides at 15-1.

 

16, TOAST COW 4yo F (Formal Gold x Danzig x Buckaroo) 5 wins from 29 starts for this Formal Gold filly, Last couple of runs have been over sprint distances, Bags of speed and sure to be up front early, Has won over the mile but not sure if this big step up in distance will suit here. J Napper gets the leg up for trainer bigsplit2 at odds of 9-1.
