The Best Filly NOT in the Breeders Bowl?
Techranger’s Graduation Stakes
Grade I
A mile and one sixteenth on Firm Turf
$500,000
Fillies, 2 years old
The TECHRANGERS GRADUATION STAKES Grade I looked more like a jail break than a horse race at times but in the end A CASE IN POINT made a case in point for being possibly the best two year old turf filly that won’t be running in the Breeders Bowl.
Trainer GoodTimes unfortunately has found out too late what a special turf filly he has. She was running dirt races until three back when she switched to the grass and has been nearly unbeatable since then with two wins and a second. With a sizzling 91 SPF in this race, the POINT GIVEN out of broodmare SMITTEN filly would probably be one of the favorites in next weeks Juvenile Filly Turf race at the Breeders Bowl. She moved up to number two in the rankings for her division and has now earned over $ 350k in her young career. The amazing thing is that all of that is basically in only three races that she has run on turf. Trainer GoodTimes who is nearing 100 wins in his stable of only three horses has been around this game for a long time and knows what a special young lady he has. Props also to jockey Jones who always does a great job with these young horses.
I mentioned that this race started off like they were having a clearance sale at the Dress Barn. The ladies took off like they had to be the first one in line at the half way point. They were lined up across the track and at the half twelve of the fourteen horses were with in four lengths of the leader GREEN DIESIS who had a whisker of a lead over two others. Finally, at the top of the stretch A CASE IN POINT and DESERT HEIGHTS pulled away from the rest of the field and finished in that order. Falling back but finishing third was TARA .
GoodTimes has quite a special horse in the stable and will have to plenty of chances to match up against next week’s runners. I’m betting that he wishes that he had the beginning of this year over again for A CASE IN POINT though.
Good luck to all runners!
