CRYSTAL SEER Looks Into Own Future!
The PURSE SNATCHER Challenge Stakes
Five and one half furlongs on Fast DIrt
$95,000
Fillies, 2 years old
It was a Tale of Two Races here at the Grade I Del Webb Oaks in California this weekend. CRYSTAL SEER ran nearly a perfect race from near the back and TACTICAL RAT got so far out front that it appeared that no one could possibly catch her.
In the end, it was CRYSTAL SEER who came from back in fourth place with a strong finish in the stretch to win rather easily. That makes four wins in five races for the SILVER DEPUTY filly with only a bad stumble in a GI to mar her perfect record. She has now earned nearly $140k and moved up to number 68 in the dirt sprint rankings. She ran her best speed to date with a nice 84 SPF. Trainer Borrow2 has to be happy with the progress his young filly has made.
TACTICAL RAT took the other route and jumped out to the early lead and was never really challenged as she built up a lead of over four lengths coming into the final turn. It appeared that she was in a different class than the other fillies. In the end, there were only two in the class and it included our winner. MURUA finished third but was nearly four lengths back. The rest of the field was barely within yelling distance of CRYSTAL SEER who looked like a rocket in the final quarter.
Borrow2 looks like he has quite a special horse in the stable and will have to pick and choose the best way to use her attributes to best advantage. I think she will be back on the Graded circuit soon to give it another try.
Good luck to all runners!
