BRABASONG Runs to Easy Win in Honey Dew GIII

Honey Dew Stakes
Grade III
Seven and a half furlongs on Firm Turf
$150,000
Fillies, 2 years old

There was no mistaking who was the best horse at Ostend this weekend at the Honey Dew Stakes GIII. BRABASONG ran nearly a perfect race, stalking the leaders then throwing it into another gear and blowing by them to win easily. MIRARI’S WAKE was the only horse in the same zip code at the end.

This beautiful light grey filly has now won six of seven and three in a row including two straight Graded outings. She is the number one ranked sprinter and also moved into that magic number fourteen spot for the classic distance which will probably give trainer Brabant an opportunity to saddle her up in the Breeders Bowl. She moved her winnings to up over $375 k and more importantly has run two straight races with a 90 SPF. After these two both at 7F or longer you have to wonder just how far she can go successfully.

TURTLE POWERED jumped out to the early lead but faded badly to seventh in the end . MIRARI’S WAKE was either on the lead or in second the entire race but could do no better than two and a half back at the wire. SLEW O’REGALS finished third but was nearly seven lengths back. The rest of the field was even further back but they got a good seat to watch a special filly win today.

Brabant has quite a special filly in the stable and will have to pick and choose the way to best use her passion to run. Will she stay in the sprints or move to the classic distances? I for one will be watching and admiring the grey rocket as she finishes up her two year old campaign.

Good luck to all runners!
