Today we feature a big field running in The EDISON NINER Cap, 11
horses going postward one mile over a well maintained dirt course.
Lately favorites have been having there way here in arizona, especially
in stakes races but with todays big field, and no real dominant horse, and
when you put older horses against younger horses this could be anybody’s
race. Let’s take a closer look at the participants.
pp 1 64310 RULZIG squity L Cipa 20/1- Wants the lead, needs the lead, and will gun for the lead, last time out looked impressive against a soft field when given the lone lead on a speed favoring track, I don’t see this field spotting him almost 5 lengths like last time out. May be the early pacesetter but will be pressed and ultimately passed, maybe before the stretch, should not figure in the exotics at all.
pp 2 18060 DISCLOSURE ricdav93 A Stepnoski 9/1-Hard horse to figure out in this race. If you look at his last race you have to ask why is he in this race, but the three before that put him right in the thick of things. In talking to ricdav93 he says this horse will occasionally throw out a dud for no apparent reason but always seems to fire big next time which is why he chose this race, figuring the horse had a big run coming,I tend to agree, he has never thrown out two bad races in a row, so he figures to fire here today, but will he have room at the end with an expected, cavalcade of closers looking to pull out the late win??
pp 3 95390 VINSANITY peeps6 R Mansur 5/1-Second choice here is a very inconsistent, never a good trait for a deep closer such as this one is, when he fires he is very good, but when he doesnt, he is a average horse at best touch to back this one as he has two strikes, inconsistentency, and fighting thru traffic.
pp 4 660 BARB’S BETTY ANNE radarmansn A Brown 7/1- Horse is capable of firing off the big one, but cant seem to do it in consecutive races. Ran a pretty big race last time out, so i expect the usual bounce this race which i think he should be higher than 7/1 i think 17/1 would be more appropriate for this horse which until he breaks his current form will not fire off his best.
pp 5 90827 COSMO N WANDA doza F Donnell 6/1-Another horse that will fire for the lead, expected to lead down the back stretch, and maybe to the turn at this point i think that he will come back to the pack and get passed, may hold on for a lower piece of the exotics.
pp 6 96745 AD ASTRA bigmoose K Saab 28/1 – First stakes race of 3 year old season, and a odd time for it, it would appear, horse looked pretty good in winning two straight allowance races then runs a very flat sixth last out, even with a career best speed rating, doesn’t fit well in here would take a huge improvement to win here today.
pp 7 34933 GLOAT OR GOAT estreli N Gardner 6/1-Another frontrunner with a tendency to pack it in down the stretch, this one will be in the front pack, in the beginning, but wont figure in the final running.
pp 8 97949 KING OF DANCE coolk J Clay 7/2- The favorite, and his last three have been impressive, especially the ability to lead or stalk, that may come in handy today with a big field, armed with speed to burn. J Clay is going to have to do a great job of rating this horse off of the speed if not he will get burned in the speed stampede. His chances rest solely on the jocks ability to pull him off of the pace and rate him to have something left for the stretch run.
pp 9 109329 ARMED AND READY zewango2 N Trumbull 9/1-More speed to add to the equation this may be the fastest of the speed, but i still think that he fizzles in the last furlong, but may be good enough to hang on for a piece of the exotics, however if he presses the issues early and looks for the sole lead he will be done by the halfway point.
pp 10 85672 PLEASUREFUL tasman1 A Cummings 9/1-Mid pack runner who looks like he would benefit from all of the speed in front of him, but lately seems not to have that gear to make the move when he has been asked, seems to have a nagging injury, or just out of form, a very talented horse that just seems to be in a slump, if he wakes up today he may just find himself in
the middle of a good horse race, if not he will be a also ran very quickly after the last turn.
pp 11 88163 NAWS NASKRA nawbo3 S Barry 8/1- Lately this horse has shown a love for the front end, but after looking over the race nawbo3 has asked S Barry to try to restrain him and save some for the back end of the race, this horse will be in the second pack looking to make a move late, but not too late that one of the closing trains will beat him to the wire.
