What do I know?

By ITCH

If you’re reading a preview for a stakes race in West Virginia, and somewhere in the paragraph about your horse it says, “but what do I know,” that may be a good thing.

It certainly has been the last two weeks.

This writer doubted the chances of the winner in 2839, and the chances of Teaco’s MUTATA MATER in the $30,000 OUTBACK NICOLE MEMORIAL for 2yo fillies.

Having broken her maiden at 4.5 furlongs, we doubted Teaco’s filly’s ability to get the six furlongs. Wrongo! The daughter of Cat Thief ran a very professional race, rating nicely in fourth on the rail before forging her way to the front in early stretch, then drawing off for a nice score. She’s an undefeated 2-2 now, and earned a very nice speed fig of 75 in the win.

Chill’s MONKEY MICHELLE closed strongly from the far outside to be second, barely holding off the late charge of Wassie’s W VA HERE I COME, who flew from the back to be an impressive third.
