Storied Past wins the Grade III Warfare

With a sweeping move down the inside part of the track, Storied Past went to the lead and held off a late flourish by Mail Order Bride to win this year’s edition of the Grade III Warfare Farm Stakes, which was the feature this weekend at sunny Texas. The winner is out of Red Ransom and improved her lifetime record to 7-5-1-1, with earnings of $184,180 for trainer correction.

At the start it was Regal Cat who took the early lead, setting up hot early fractions up front. She was followed by Black Strike and Daisy Ransom, and there was no change in the order until they entered the stretch. The leader was tiring quickly and Mail Order Bride was a big threat on the outside, while the winner Storied Past was flying between horses, taking the lead with half a furlong to go. He began to draw away, but in the final strides Mail Order Bride rallied to come up just short of victory. Regal Cat held on for third.

The time of the race was an average 1:10:1/5 for the six furlongs.
