Another Cheap Star For The Ladies

(SP)Wyoming- There were no pranks, jokes or tricks played on anyone last Saturday and that was just the way the WRC liked it. A spokesman for the WRC admitted there was concern that someone would try something for April Fools Day. In the end even the horses co-operated and there was no long odds winners on the day. It was just another day at the races. In the main event there were no real surprises, even though the favorite didn’t win, it was still a horse that was believed to give a good challenge. Road To Isengard had a good break from the gates and that was all he needed to set him up for a nice stalking win. Coming around the turn he had an opening on the inside and took full advantage of it and went on to win by one length. Blue Fer Sure used a nice closing effort to secure a place on the day and giving a strong showing in doing so. He may not have won, but he was closing comfortably. A clear indication he is destine for a career in routing. Remember Ebro broke in the third spot and that is where he stayed the entire race. He seemed to be content to sit right where he was and no effort was extended to secure a win. Still, it was a show and adds to his tag of being a solid runner.

Up this week is the $55,000 Another Cheap Star Stakes to be run on the dirt oval. It is a six furlong sprint for the ladies four years and older. The weather is set to be a nice sunny making for a good fast track. Because of this we have eleven fine looking ladies that have decided to entertain us this weekend. That being the case the least we can do is be introduced to them.

Runaway Lady entered by graceful. Let’s just say that this light gray filly is glad to be back on the surface she likes, not to mention at a distance she is more comfortable with. She notched a win at this level last year, but is struggling this year. She likes to run near the front, but stamina has been a problem and many are whispering she has lost a step.

Spined Runic entered by illbred. This lightly raced filly comes in off a two in a row win streak. The trainer shortened up her races this year and she has responded well running the best times of her career. She is a pace setter and challenges the other racers to beat her. This tactic has gotten her six wins but only one show. She will have the hot jockey, Jesse Sands, to strengthen her chances.

Dorchak‘s Babe entered by ldstables. After four years on the circuit, this mare will debut in her first stakes race. She has shown a strong preference at sprints so it is a mystery why the trainer opened this season with a long route race. She is a combination stalker closer type and it is good that she has the wily veteran, Vince Gannon, in the irons to guide her.

High Again entered by rubber7. This is a filly that seems to have a fight with the gates each race. The trainer has worked hard with her, but every race seems to bring a new problem. She is still looking for that first stakes win, but would probably be better suited for the allowance level where she is a solid runner.

Bothered entered by conniecpu. This pace setting light gray mare has been on the board in fifty percent of her races, which is not a bad average. She is trying the stakes level again this time out and has been consistent of late. Although, she is another horse that would be better suited at allowance level where she is more comfortable.

Abadia Da Cova entered by triska. This filly is apparently named after the wine producing region of Spain. The pace setter comes in off a win streak of two and has looked strong in both. She has one win at stakes level but seems to have a love hate relationship with them. Struggling in one and challenging in another. We will see what her return to this level will do for her this time.

Bolt Of Zeus entered by umeacity. This front running mare comes in winning almost half of her races. She has won so far this year and has looked strong both times. The faster and harder the surface the more she likes it and this weekend could play right into her hooves.

Ms. Waqwhat entered by apa. This light gray mare comes in with a third of her races won and approaching $900K in earnings. She is another that lives and dies on how she comes out of the gates. When it is near the front she is in contention. Near the back and the race is over. This year has been no exception and how she comes out Saturday will basically indicate where she finishes.

Ant‘s Honor entered by ferdinand. This unassuming front running chestnut comes into the race hitting the board in twenty out of twenty-four races. She also comes in the 50th ranked mare in her age group and is favored in the race. This will be only her second race in the US and so far this year she has looked very strong winning both of her races.

Appealing entered by jumpinjack. This mare come in the other co-favorite in Saturdays main event. She likes running with the leaders and has had good success in Wyoming, although here last time here is not something she wishes to remember. After two strong performances she will once again try to recreate her winning ways at stakes level.

Dark Storm Coming entered by darkangel. This mare comes in with the most experience under the saddle. So far this year she has had moderate success at allowance level, but looks as though she has lost a step. She likes to close on the field and will probably use the same method this weekend. Having Randy Kinchen, who is struggling this year, in the irons will not help her.
