Samaniego (IRE) wire to wire in the Misfired Bogie

Samaniego (IRE) took advantage of a fast and firm turf, went to the lead and never relinquished it en route to a three quarter lengths wire to wire score in the Grade III Misfired Bogie Stakes, the feature for this weekend in Epsom. The time of the race was an acceptable 1:48:2/5 for the nine furlong distance and the winner improved his lifetime record to 40-9-7-6, with earnings of $797,870 for trainer layeguada.

It was Samaniego at the lead from the gitgo, and he drew away from his followers, which first were Maryland Mover, Our Star T and Transylvania. With three furlongs to go, the lead increased to seven lengths, while Diamond Max (IRE) overtook Maryland Mover for the place spot and from the back of the pack, Egyptian Empire and the favorite Title Duke started to uncoil. In deep stretch, Samaniego began to tire, but the lead was way too big and although Title Duke and Egyptian Empire were gaining ground quickly, the winner’s victory was not in danger at any moment.
