The Second Carson Handicap

 The SECOND CARSON Handicap Stakes

Fillies and mares, 4 years old and up, Seven furlongs on the Fast Dirt Course, Purse : $85,000

Here in the Blugrass State we are looking to the track and see 8 wonderful looking fillies and mares working toward a win in this stakes race. This field is so close that the odds makers could hardly separate them all between 3/1 and 8/1. Lets meet this field….’

Post #1 SEEKING PERFECTION(IRE)- 4 year old filly (GALILEO (IRE) x SEEKING THE GOLD x SECRETARIAT) Trainer- galileo has been running long and shortens up to 7 furlongs. Has been running subpar efforts of late and you get 6/1 on this entry. This might be a prep for a future race at 9 furlongs. I like this horse but I might wiat and see where she will show up next.

Post #2 THE REVIVALIST– 4 year old filly (DISTANT VIEW X RED RANSOM X ALYDAR)trainer-42ndstreet Stretched out to 7 furlongs and ran a subpar 84sf after three stright wins including a stakes score. This filly should move up from that effort might not like the distance though, i will look elsewhere for now.7/1

Post #3 TULLOCH’S BELLE– 5 year old mare (CARSON CITY x SEATTLE SLEW x DEPUTY MINISTER) trainer- tolloch Ran a 104 last out the last time she did that she regressed some. She should be one to contend with. With 8/1 odds hard not to atleast look at.  Might just love the 7.5 furlong distance.

Post #4 EMPIRE GOLD– 4 year old filly (EMPIRE MAKER x THEATRICAL(IRE) x SEEKING THE GOLD) trainer-jwolfe607 Ran 2nd in a grade two Distaff Breeder’s Bowl Cap with a massive 110 at todays distance. 7/2 on the line might look like a gift if she runs back to it. Should be sitting right off the pace.

Post #5 PARTY THIEF– 5 year old mare (CAT THIEF x PULPIT x PARTY MANNERS) trainer- camry The Favorite in this field. Ran back to back 98sf and might be sitting on a huge performance and get back to the triple digit sf’s again. Has not won in a while but this field is about the same so if she can step up just a bit could be there.

Post #6 GOVE’S LAST DANCE– 4 year old Filly (FORTY NINER x NORTHERN DANCER x BUCKPASSER) trainer- candyride A fairly consistent runner and looks to be sitting on an up swing. The question with this one is where’s the pace?. At 6/1 morning line would like to get a better price but she looks like one of the other contenders as well.

Post #7 TOM BOY BUDA– 8 year old mare (SEATTLE SLEW x NIJINSKY II x SECRETARIAT) trainer- tom Ran well at 7.5 furlongs and a 98sf should get a boost dropping from 9 to 7 furlongs. As the longest shot on the board does not offer as much value at just 8/1. I would use her in the exacta.

Post #8 CAYMAN CAPE– 4 year old filly (CAPE CANAVERAL x PRIVATE ACCOUNT x FORLI) trainer- hornedfrog has run 4 stright 100+sf’s. She won a stakes race at 6.5 furlongs with a 101sf. That makes 2 in a row and 4 100+ sf’s, MIght be the value of this race at 6/1. If she stays in form I would take her to win.

Now my Picks: Win: CAYMAN CAPE To Place: TOM BOY BUDA To Show: SEEKING PERFECTION(IRE)
