Some Top Ranked Horses Looking To Get Back On The Right Track
Some Top Ranked Horses Looking To Get Back On The Right Track
Breaking from the inside will be Wild Wild Wild (10/1) a dark brown, well conformed 5 YO mare by Awesome Again. Trained by Yuga, she has been in the money in 13 of her 18 starts with five wins including two of her last four. She has yet to make the class jump as both of her recent wins were in allowance events but she does like the distance. Her biggest drawback may be her rider who is looking for only his second win of the year.
Post two will hold Otto History (7/1), a 4 YO filly by Deputy Minister. She has four wins from five starts and is trained by one of the best, Capsized. She finished second in her first stakes attempt in the Grade III, Sabian and then came back to win going away in the Grade II, Mike’s Fallen & Can’t Get Up. The compact bay filly may be light on experience but she is a speedy one and is one to watch.
Caladiza (29/1) is trained by Gene and the trainer may have filled out the wrong entry card. The dark bay 4 YO daughter of Capote has won four of 19 starts and should be able to handle the distance but the former $40,000 claimer will not only have to handle some top horses but will be packing a jock that hasn’t won a race all year. It’s a good thing she can’t read and we all know stranger things have happened but she might need a miracle to get part of this.
Deputy Minister’s second representative is the copper chestnut, 4 YO filly, Fall Classic (11/1). Trained by Fatattack she is another that is lightly raced but she has won, three of five starts. She reeled off three in a row at the start of her career including two wins at nine furlongs and I have to believe this was from ability although her trainer is one of the best. She passed tired in the Mike’s Fallen and ended up fourth behind Otto History. I am sure she has revenge on her mind and should continue to improve.
Robinson (8/1) is in post five and is trained by Mano. Although he can be quite self deprecating about his abilities as a trainer we all know that is not quite true. Robinson is a solid allowance 5YO mare and has split the fields in all of her stakes attempts. The distance will not be a problem for this well made bright bay daughter of Deputy Minister, however, she will be ridden by a jockey who doesn’t say much and is either for you or against you. Guess we will see on Saturday how he feels about Mano.
Ezwin is hoping Dubai Prospector (6/1) can get back on track with this race. She has not won since taking the Lool Oaks, over nine months ago. She finished second against the boys in the Bluegrass Derby and the dark bay filly was third last time out in the Sword Skipping. A 4YO daughter of Essence Of Dubai, she has almost 2 million in money earned and is still ranked # 13.
Fernando, another of the Sims top trainers, is represented by Berenguela (6/1) a 4 YO daughter of Tale Of The Cat. She has won six of 24 starts and had a nice win three back in the Grade III Annie Oakley at nine furlongs. The big red filly was a closing third in the Grade I Fair Warning and then gave a lackluster performance last time out in the Steve Cauthen. Look for her to bounce back off of that.
Post eight will hold Termantia (6/1) a 4YO daughter of Pulpit who is ranked # 36 and has five wins from 21 starts. Conditioned by Zatopeck she has won over a half million in purse money but she is another that has not won recently and needs to get back on track, The blood bay filly was third last time out in a Puerto Rican allowance race of six horses.
Stoners says he never reads these so……….Wild Cat Tales (4/1) will break from post nine. She is a washy chestnut 4 YO filly by Tale Of The Cat and is trained by Champions4. Ranked # 32, she has seven wins from 16 starts and has won two of her last four, including the Sword Skipping. If her last eight are any indication the high-hipped filly hits a stone wall at any distance over a mile and a sixteenth. Better up that lasix.
The Aus Boss is a 5 YO mare by Nothin’Leica Dane and is conditioned by Speedzone1. The number three ranked mare has eight wins from 15 starts and over a million dollars in the bank. She won back to back Grade I’s at both six and eight furlongs. Although the bald faced chestnut mare has been on a steady diet of Grade Is her best recent finish was three back when she ran second in the 10 furlong, Grade I Yellow Submarine. She has not started this year since a dismal performance in the DPCD Lightning Ladies Sprint and although she is well rested but may need the race.
Whoami2 will send out a rabbit for relative Champions4. American Native (14/1) is a 5 YO daughter of Touch Gold and she has won 6 of 37 starts. She went wire to wire two back at a mile and a sixteenth and the dark chestnut will probably be sent to the front again. The trouble with rabbits is that they are rabbits for all so the outcome of this race will be in doubt right down to the wire.
