Im a Chick Now and PJ Seven Seas, Both Looking For Three In a Row

Im a Chick Now and PJ Seven Seas, Both Looking For Three In a Row

California – Six older fillies and mares will parade to the post for the Pledge Race Special under fair skies Saturday for a purse of $110,000.   The mile and 5/8 will be run over the turf course and is named for Pledge Race, a winner of five of 35 and who is the dam of one foal to race – a winner.

Washington (10/1) drew the inside and the 5YO copper chestnut by West Point is owned and trained by Royston.  She has three wins from 34 starts but does show wins at both 12 and 16 furlongs in her last eight starts.  She finished last in a Grade III two races back and then was switched to the dirt for a fourth place finish last time out.  She’s back on the turf Saturday with a jock looking for his first win of the year and this could be a hungry combination.

I’m A Chick Now (5/1) might sound like a quarter horse but is a light bay 4 YO filly by Event Of The Year.  Mark88 will saddle this nice filly that has won her last two starts.  She likes to come from well back and mow them down in the stretch but she is moving up in class and will need her best to make it three in a row.

Post three will hold Sweet Sunshyne (3/1) a 5YO bay daughter of Theatrical.  She has won seven of 27 and although she has been winless for the last six months she has plenty of gas and some tactical speed.  Ranked # 65 she is conditioned by 375stud and may have some life in her yet.

Fernando seldom enters one where it doesn’t belong and that holds true for his entry of Five Little Indians (2/1).  As grey horses do, she is getting lighter every year but the 6 YO daughter of Adieu Au Roi is still the class of the race.  She is ranked # 20 and has 12 wins from 53 starts.  Her last win was The Caustic Linda five back but she was second last time out in The Princess House and with this trainer it would be foolish to bet against her.

Onagotone (22/1) is a brown 4YO filly by Forty Niner.  Trained by Ontarget this lightly raced filly has two wins from three starts but is in a sink or swim situation here on Saturday.  Her top speed figure was her lone try on the main track and even though this race is light on entries the competition will test her mettle and tell her trainer what he needs to know.

Osstable3 will saddle PJ Seven Seas (6/5) a 5 YO mare by Rock Of Gibraltar.  She has two wins and a second in her last three starts and is another looking for her third win in a row.  She went wire to wire last time out in The Sloppy Gal, winning by an opening six lengths with a 10 point jump in speed figures.  That alone will give this dark bay mare the edge here.
