COLONIAL CODE Special highlights N. Carolina card

Turf fillies will be the centerpiece of the Saturday card in Tarheel country, as six fillies and mares will contest the COLONIAL CODE Stakes over a mile and three eighths on the turf. No rain is forecast in North Carolina for this event, so the course is expected to be in good shape for this marathon trip.

Big Farcough Horse is a proven marathon runner by Krisinsky. She split the field in the Breeders Bowl Turf Distaff for trainer stalpipo, then went on a bit of a cool spell before capturing a stake at today’s distance in her most recent effort. This one appears to be a rock solid speed horse, as she loves to take fields gate to wire. If left alone, she’s dangerous.

Imamudder’s Warrior Knitting is a speedy 8 year old mare by Green Street who also has speed on her mind. She actually set the pace in a 6 furlong stake in Deleawre before tiring to fourth. That, in itself, shows a weakness for this mare. Distance is, indeed, a problem for her. She will need to dig deep in order to pull it off at 11 panels today.

Barb’s Own Reality(IRE), a daughter of 2003 Breeders’ Cup Turf co-champion High Chaparral(IRE), has proven to be effective in these type of races for heffbarn. She was dusted in a one mile conditioned allowance in her most recent outing, but is stakes placed when running long. Her pedigree alone makes her a threat, but she will need to rebound off of her latest in order to claim the top spot.

Publik Enemy, by Rainbow Quest, is a proven marathon mare. She has been first or second in all but two of her last eight starts, one of which was a fifth place finish in a Grade 1 in Australia. Class makes this mare extremely dangerous, as does the pace setup of this race. She’ll get a perfect stalking trip and should be ready to mow them down in the final furlong.

Shamrandk saddles Ancizan(GB), a beautiful daughter of In The Wings(GB). She comes into this race light on class, as she was a winner for a $10,000 tag eight starts back. Since then, she has only mustered a victory in a $20,000 starter allowance spot. However, that victory was at the mile and a half distance on the lawn, which is similar to this event. She will need to prove she can run in stakes company, and thus far she still has work to do in that department.

Over Highland, by Northern Passage, was knocking around for $50,000 claiming tags for reems11 before breaking through in stakes company to win the MISS LESLIE back in week 2713. She came back from that one with a dismal 6th place finish at today’s distance. Her SP#’s are a little on the light side, so we’ll need to see improvement in order to see her in the winner’s circle this time.
