The Edward Garisson Gr.I

Stalking a demanding pace, kj stables King’s Robbery(IRE), rated seven lengths off the leaders, running in third place, then made his move at the head of the stretch to run down mizunomp14 stables pace setting Western Quest. Running under the emerald green colors of the Ireland Residency King’s Robbery, at 20/1 odds, took the lead about the 1/8 pole and was ridden out in hand by the veteran jockey B. Langhorne. It was Langhorne’s second ride on the King Of Kings(IRE) colt, both rides resulting in victories, both at the Vermont track.

“I was wondering if they’d call” stated the veteran rider. “It’s been a slow start to 06′ ” he said. “I haven’t gotten the same quality mounts that I was getting in 05’…when I saw that King’s Robbery(IRE) had been selected to run for Ireland and was going to run here at Vermont…you might say..I had my hopes. When the lead kj trainer called, they said that “I was their 1st and basically only selection. The horse had his best previous performance under my guidance”, “we won by 4 lengths that day”. “Those guys actually asked if I would consider taking the mount”.

“As the race started Western Quest raced to the lead followed by louisville stables Macho Niner, we broke clean and settled in behind them. Those two hooked up, we were comfortable to sit back in third and watch for developments. My horse felt strong and had a firm hold of the track, the kj folks had him ready to race. As we rounded the far turn we were running at the leaders, you could see that Macho Niner was played out and we were gaining on Western Quest by the second. I took a peak behind me and saw peep6 Slither in full run. I urged KR to go and he resonded. We caught Western Quest half way up the stretch and pulled away”.

The race went in 2:30 even with King’s Robbery(IRE) winning by 3 1/2 lengths or so and he posted a 106 speed rating for the work. Slither came on like gang busters and took place position and Western Quest finished 3rd.
