Debutantes Clash in the Parramatta Sprint
Thirteen babies line up for one of the major races in the first week of Juvenile races for 2006. With $50,000 up for grabs and an allowance class win on offer, it is sure to be a mad scamper over 900 metres. The field is:
JENNA’S DEPUTY ~ (French Deputy x Redoute’s Choice) First time dam wasn’t a world beater but did like the turf sprints. Sire a noted early producer.
GUM BOOTS ~ (STORM BOOT x DANZIG) Dam has produced a Stakeswinner and 2yo winners. Bred to go well early.
RIZ WISH ~ (RIZZI x LYPHARD’S WISH) Sire has produced early 2yo winners but a win would surprise. Bargain Bred.
ZANY ~ (MIESQUE’S SON x FORESTRY) Dam is a first time mum and was pretty slow herself. Miesque’s Son adds some zip.
HIGHEST HOPE ~ (STRONG HOPE x NUREYEV) Dam has produced a stakeswinner and this cross of bloodlines seem to like the grass even though Strong Hope primarily gets dirt runners.
SIXSALT ~ (SALT LAKE x TIMELESS MOMENT) Should produce wins fairly early but could prefer the dirt.
IMPERIAL DYNASTY ~ (STREET CRY (IRE) x UNBRIDLED’S SONG) Another that could be primed first up. Half sister now prefers the dirt but did win a turf maiden at her 2nd start as a 2yo.
ERMINGTON HEAT(AUS) ~ (NOT A SINGLE DOUBT x DIXIELAND HEAT) Sire was a flying machine as a 2yo so could go well early. Bargain Bred.
ROCKING CAUSEWAY(IRE) ~ (ROCK OF GIBRALTAR x GIANT’S CAUSEWAY) First baby from a Dam that was a 2yo winner. Lovely bloodlines and will only improve with time.
GIANT’S WOODSLEW(IRE) ~ (GIANT’S CAUSEWAY x WOODMAN) First baby from a handy mare that had 5 wins, most of them on dirt but never as a 2yo. Bred to be anything.
DUBAWI FUN(IRE) ~ (DUBAWI x JUST A CAT) Another first baby from a more than capable mare that won 4 turf sprint races and was twice a 2yo winner.
THE BACK NINE(AUS) ~ (ENCOSTA DE LAGO x A.P. INDY) Magnificient bloodlines sired by proven 2yo producer IRL. Sire is still finding his feet in the Sim.
RYAN’S RIVER ~ (ANABAA x IRISH RIVER) Out of a lovely C Grade mare that amassed over 400K. Hasn’t produced that into her offspring though (yet). Anabaa certainly adds some turf speed for this fellow.
I’ve decided not to stick my neck out and make a selection as these early races are generally a lottery. I will say though that there are some 2yos that you would expect to produce form rather quickly or they could be off to the doggers, while other owners are looking to the future and will probably need to be patient.
Good Luck to everyone. Should be an interesting race !!
