Irish Julie(Ire) Headlines Denmark Feature

Four 3yo fillies will be running in this week’s featured race, The Queen Nijinsky Special. It will be run at one mile on the turf course for a purse of $80,000. Queen Nijinsky was a turf router by Marquetry who won 11 races in her career and placed in one stakes race.

On the rail at 3/2 is Refreshing Sharon owned by cream. Those of you who’ve been around the sim for awhile may remember cream as the conditioner of the great racemare Jo Ann Christmas, winner of the 2001 Breeder’s Bowl Turf Distaff. Refreshing Sharon is by Kingmambo out of a Sadler’s Wells mare. She has two wins and a second on dirt, but showed little in her one turf start. It was her debut, however, and means little, as many a horse runs greenly in that first start. D. Coffey is in the irons.

In post two at 4/5 is Irish Julie(Ire), owned by the appropriately named irishsired stable. She is by Fasliyev(Ire) and is out of the stakeswinning Sadler’s Wells mare Courageous Julie. She has won one stakes and hit the board in another. She ran an 88 speed figure last time out in her first start as a 3yo. Top jockey B. Schardein is likely counting on another effort like that one, which would surely put that second stakes victory on her resume.

In post three at 5/1 is Aptifee owned by moonshines. She is by Aptitude and is out of a Menifee mare. After her debut on turf in which she didn’t show much, she ran on dirt until breaking her maiden. Switched back to turf, she displayed an affinity for the surface, winning an allowance and hitting the board in three straight stakes races. Her speed figures to date are not on a par with the two favourites, but this will be her first route and she may find it more to her liking. T. Haley will be riding.

Rounding out the field at 7/1 is Full Soar(Ire) owned by mrfu2. She is by Hawkeye(Ire) and is out of a Pulpit mare. She has won 3 of 5 starts. She began her career with two consecutive victories, winning an Ireland maiden by 1-1/2 and a Dubai allowance by 2 lengths. She was put to the test, however, in the Irish Turf Futurity, and proved to not be up to the task. After a similar failure on dirt, she rebounded in a track-restricted allowance in Finland and hopefully has gotten her confidence back. M. Sheridan will give her a good ride.

There is our field. We have a some nice looking fillies here and it should be quite a race. Good luck to all the runners, and may they all come home sound.
