Who Will Get the Cootie’s?
A highly-competitive field of twelve fillies will grace the
Five Car Garage Torre 13/1 A solid performer in overnight stakes, she hasn’t done much in graded company. A superb claim by her owner, but overmatched here.
Mother Bluff Stormypik9 9/2 Remarkable veteran can still be competitive in graded company after 58 starts. LTO she was a competitive 4th on Del Penn Champions Day. She has run some crazy fast races in her day, but time is starting to catch up with her. Lately her best finishes have been in every other race and she’s due to be a bit tired after DPCD. But who knows – with her remarkable career, I wouldn’t put it past her to run big.
Gold Squall Paseana92 5/1 Has won four of last five in overnight stakes – gotta like that! Top jock P Harzheim got the ride, so there’s a huge amount to like from this late-running filly. Tends to run more at 7.5 panels, but that shouldn’t be enough to make a big difference. Certainly a top contender here.
North End Chips22 7/1 Has made a living for herself running well in overnight stakes with small fields. This is a tough step up for her, and she’ll need an absolutely top effort to score here.
Arkansaw Diamond Simond 7/1 Coming off five straight wins, four of them in overnight stakes. Granted, the stakes have had small fields, but she’s run some good fields and you have to respect a five-race winning streak. This race will be a big step up and a terrific test for her. She has earned the opportunity to shine in this tough field.
PJ Greenfeet Lady Playshack 13/1 Ran a big 102 fig in an overnight stakes a while back at this distance, but otherwise has disappointed lately in stakes races. Will need to equal her best to do much damage in this race.
Belongsinthesaddle Squity 9/1 Has been quite respectable in overnight stakes and allowance company, but this is a big step up. Would need her very best effort to be a big factor here.
Charming Chase Stevenp 7/1 Lightly-raced filly has run a couple of huge races, but it hasn’t translated to much when she takes on graded company. Maturity may help her as she takes on the big girls – hard to say. If she brings her A game she could be a force, but thus far she hasn’t shown much inclination to take on this kind of field.
Undo the Charge Punt 9/1 Toss her last race, which was on an off track, and you have a consistently solid mare. Ex-claimer (!!!) ran a surprise third in the G3 Mine Trader, but has otherwise scored mostly in allowances. Likes the distance and with a good effort could do quite well here at a good price.
Tomato Magic Toplight 13/1 Heck if I know why this filly’s at 13/1. She’s a G2 winner and has generally done well in overnight stakes. Her speeds in stakes company have been just a smidge slow for this race, but she almost always hits the board. I get why she’s not a favorite, with her speed figs, but her results make her a legitimate contender. May surprise some.
Classic Kid Woette1 16/1 Solid allowance mare (and yet another ex-claimer) may be in deep here. Her first graded effort resulted in a midpack finish and it’s hard to believe she’ll do a lot better here, though you never know. A terrific claim, though.
Envisage Rx7 10/1 A holy terror on an off track, she’s had less impressive results when the sun is shining. Generally a mid-pack finisher in graded events, and I think it’s realistic to expect more of the same here.
Good luck to everyone and may your mares come back safe and sound.
