Sabian Handicap Grade III
The SABIAN HANDICAP GIII has drawn a good field of 12 fillies and mares to the 15th race on the cards at Post 1: 14/1 Otto History – (capsized) Untried in Stakes company and making her debut here, this 4yo filly has only been around the track 3 times before but those 3 races resulted in 3 very good wins. Her form has been steadily increasing and last time out a good run at a SP of 105 makes her a good chance in this one. Watch out here punters or your money could be history… Post 2: 6/1 An impressive filly this one by Unbridled’s Song with 7 wins out of 14 races and earnings of over $275,000. A consistent runner of late and in good form too. Although others have rated higher speeds than her she will most likely still be there at the end as long as she’s not carrying too many berries in her basket. Post 3: 6/1 Tete for Storm – (sabbath) Another consistent runner although her last two outings were dismal failures against her and her owner’s standards. A 5yo mare, she knows how to race and she knows how to win with 10 across the line notched up against her. Unless her form changes for the better, she probably wont be up near the leaders at the end of this one. Post 4: 11/1 Icewind Dale – (latechat) Five wins out of 10 outings with some of these wins over allowance and stakes company. Jumping up in class a little here she looks ready to try out at this level. In saying that, her recent form and speed suggest she may just struggle although certainly wont be last home. I suggest midfield placing for this one here. Post 5: 10/1 Aenea – (richardobe) Five wins in allowance company for this 5yo mare with just the 1 run in Stakes company of late finishing a fast second. Another jump here and she may well struggle to keep on the pace. Seems to like coming from behind and you never know could surprise. Fancy others though… Post 6: 7/2 Tete Grand End (IRE) – (wisbyzews) Favourite for the race on the punters card is this 6yo mare, the oldest gal out today. Impressive earnings and a successful racing career, its not hard to guess why many fancy her to cross over the line first. Mixed results of late though and probably needs to regain some of her past glories to win. Top 3 result you would have to think though. Post 7: 5/1 Sophie – (bredtasell) Although second favourite most of her wins have come from sprints but has performed well too up to the 9 furlong mark. Last few wins have all been in allowance company but can definitely threaten in Stakes and may well push for a win here today. Post 8: 10/1 Wealth of Nations – (lasthope) This 4yo filly has performed very well in allowance company but it’s a big step up to Grade III level. She will have all the nations behind her in this race but she will have to step up another gear to have any chance of taking this one out. Place at best. Post 9: 8/1 Quiet Glory – (kobras3) Another making her step up to the big heady levels of Grade III is Quiet Glory trained and owned by kobras3. Performing well in allowance company means she gets her chance to prove just how good she is. Quiet filly but with strong hopes of glory in her eyes, she could prove to be the dark horse of the field. Post 10: 10/1 Rotunda – (sansebas) A 4yo filly by Alysheba bred and trained by the well experienced sansebas. If you discount her last 2 races you would have to say she has absolutely no chance in this race at this level. Now lets put her last 2 outings back into the picture. 2 wins – 1 at allowance and 1 at stakes level. Speeds of 100 plus. She has a chance of top 3… Post 11: 17/1 La Tahona – (cjt2) And now to the first of the roughies in this race. She has run in Stakes company before including a G1 race however with not much success. Not over the hill yet at 5 yrs but she will struggle here. Not really at this level I would suggest. Post 12: 34/1 September (AUS) – (springbed) Which brings us to our dear Aussie registered (I’m Australian remember….) filly who at 34/1 is the long shot of this race. Two races ago with a speed of 100 plus she will need a similar run here to upset the favourites. If you like long shots and you are a punter get some cash on her… Acarigua’s Picks: Win: Sophie Place: Tete Grand End (IRE) Show: Otto History or Rotunda
