Somebody Dope Slap Me

I believe in my preview article I said something along the lines that anyone who doesn’t pick White Hot to win the Derby Cap would deserve a dope slap when he won for the Phantom2 stable.  And then I did not pick him in the top four (probably guaranteeing the victory. You’re welcome, Phantom.).

South Dakota’s seven furlong $45,000 Derby Cap Stakes was won Saturday by White Hot, son of Western Winter.  The winner got a perfect trip, sitting just behind the pace as the early leaders, Narayan and betting favorite Solo Falcon slugged it out on the front end.  The former just missed the place position as the latter faded to ninth.

Two of the hard charging late runners picked up the second and fourth positions.  Two Twelve looks like one to watch as he finished second.  In his two dirt races, the 1^stClass trainee has a maiden win and now a stakes second.  Atame picked up fourth place money with a nice late move.
