Welcome to sunny southern California.for the fifth running of The Saint Paula.we have a 12 filly’s running in Saturdays race.only two of our entry’s have won a graded race.so we have ten filly’s looking for their first graded victory.one of our co- favorites is a fine looking filly by the name SLEW BETCHA. out of DANSILI and MR. P.who drew the 4 slot. this fine bred filly.trained and bred by pointblank.has tons of early speed.and the bookies seem to think she has the speed to hold on here and take the top prize, her only graded try she was caught in the turn home and finished 7th almost 4 lengths back.our other co-favorite is the daughter of FASTNET ROCK.OZZZY FAST .she was the winner of the Positive Discision Stakes back in December. in her last start waited a little to late to make a charge home.she ended up finishing 4th one length back.in the grade 3 The Old Cap. trainer ozzybred has been seen around the paddock strutting like they got it in the bag and with this filly he’s got a chance.the third choice in Saturdays races is sitting in the 7 slot is the castaspell trained star.SAMURAI TALE who has already picked up 4 minor stake wins.and now she’s looking to add a graded win to stack that of trophy’s .three of those were on turf .but she seems to like both surfaces,i give her a shot at finishing 3rd here.next on our list who wants to be crowned this years champ is ROSES FOR JANE trained by sirwalter. she won the grade 3 The Old Cap in her last start.I look for her to return back to the winners circle in this race.unless she burns her self out chasing the pacesetters.next up on the list is the megabucks trained filly MISS MEGABUCKS. she has struggled in her two graded starts.but the bookies are giving her some love on the tote-board. she has dropped back in distance.and it might be just what she needs to get to the winners circle.our next one to look at is the joydevil trained filly MIDNIGHT BARB out of MIDNIGHT LUTE.she has amassed 7 wins in her young racing life.among her victories is the grade 3 The Schoolerville as a two year old.she also has picked up 5 minor stakes wins.she’s on a two race win streak that were minor stakes . while moving up in distance each time, she also so is the # 6 ranked sprinter so no slouch here.I look for her to make a charge towards the end.the next filly up is the newsim2 trained filly GRABBY she’s the daughter BELONG TO ME.this little lady has only three races to her credit. having won her first two starts.her trainer decided to give her a shot at a minor stakes.trying to prep her for this race.she finished a respectable third.this would be the race that could make or break her career. I look for her to try and make a late charge.a show place isn’t out of the question.our next filly looking for the big payday is the blankpoin3 trained poly star SCREENING. this daughter of ARCH has been running mostly on poly.in her only dirt race as a maiden she bolted out of the box.only to be caught in the turn home fading to 5th 5 1/2 lengths back.the odds makers are giving her a slight chance at 10/1.I’m looking for her to try and run mid pack.if she keeps her same running style she has on the poly surface.looking at the next filly to step out on the big stage.we have the big daughter of ELUSIVE QUALITY.by the name of THRILLS.who is trained by deyoto3. this lady turned in one awesome performance last time out.thrilling the crowd by nearly winning the grade 3 The Old Cap.she faded slightly in the stretch. finishing 2nd.after leading out of the gate.she has tons of early speed.I’m looking for her to try and get to the front fast and try to hold on.TATTERED AND TORN is the next filly we’ll look at.the chloedawg4 trained filly has won her last three in a row. including her last time out she won the minor stakes Fire N Ice Dirt Filly Sprint.this daughter of SPEIGHTSTOWN has plenty of spunk to surprise the field.now on to the long shots. we have the ojcbets trained filly ATLANTIC ROAD at 17/1.she has five wins to her credit.and she’s currently on a four race win streak.she seems to be ready to step up in class.she has the talent and pedigree to win at this level that’s for sure.she maybe the spoiler here.now on to our long shot we have the lightng101 trained filly out of lightly used sire GOLD ALY. this fine little lady maybe small but she’s tough, she’s won 5 races in her young life, four of those were minor stakes victories.she likes to go to the front.and I look for her to try and set the pace.I’m not so sure she can hold off this field.but at 28/1 the odds makers are saying no way.well good luck to all the trainers.
