PP#1 HELL FIRE CLUB twinoaks J Piotrowski $4.5
4yo chestnut filly by GALILEO (IRE) x GONE WEST
Starts: 24:12-2-3
Prize Money: $739,877
Class Starts: 4:1-0-1
Distance Starts: 1:1-0-0
Track Starts: First Start
Best Speed: 113 @ 2400m
Last 5 Starts: 15914
This four year filly is taking on the boys for the second time only in her career. The last time she took on the boys was her last start at GRP1 level @ 2800m where she held her ground for most of the race until the home straight where she couldn’t match it with the boys. Does do most of her racing in the US division but has travelled before so don’t think that should worry her. Has only had the one start at the distance for a win, and this is her first appearance at this track. The owners have flown jockey J Piotrowski to ride her again, and that is probably cause of his ride on her 2 starts back in The Scottsdale Stayer* @ 3200m where he put her behind the leader and let her loose in the straight for a 5 lenght win. She is the only girl in the field and the owner hopes that the boys will be chasing her all the way to the finish line. She is well rested between races and must be considered as one of the main chances if she gets things her way.
PP#2 SOURING TAP woodhead S Fraser $4
4yo brown colt by SKY MESA x SADLER’S WELLS
Starts: 30:8-6-2
Prize Money: $706,406
Class Starts: 1:0-1-0
Distance Starts: 3:1-2-0
Track Starts: First Start
Best Speed: 114 @ 2400m
Last 5 Starts: 15232
This four year old colt is one of the early equal favourites. He has been racing well and was very unlucky not to be a GRP1 winner when he was beaten by a nose in The Seattle Stayer* @ 3200m three starts back. He is also another horse that does most of his racess in the US division, but can travel as well. Owners have given jockey S Fraser the task of riding him to a win, and they are hoping the jockey can use his knowledge of the track to their advantage. This colt is yet to finish worse than second from 3 starts at the distance, and will be hard to beat.
PP#3 LYRICAL LIGHT caracol J Jubel $5
3yo brown colt by STREET CRY (IRE) x LEWIS MICHAEL
Starts: 17:7-7-2
Prize Money: $233,803
Class Starts: First Start
Distance Starts: First Start
Track Starts: 1:0-1-0
Best Speed: 113 @ 2100m
Last 5 Starts: 11211
This three year old colt is having a big step up in class here today. Has done most of his racing in restricted allowance races and has never raced beyond 2800m. There is no doubt that this colt is a quality runner just have to look at what odds he starts his races at, has never been at double odds. All his wins have come this year and the owners have selected J Jubel to ride him at this track once again. The colt had his second career start at this track as a 2yo where he was unlucky not to win. I know he’s a in form runner but for me there are too many question marks that need to be answered. Take him at your own risk.
PP#4 TOWD TIN POT arminarm D Evans $6
3yo brown colt by MEDICEAN (GB) x LYPHARD
Starts: 13:4-3-0
Prize Money: $498,524
Class Starts: 3:1-1-0
Distance Starts: First Start
Track Starts: First Start
Best Speed: 109 @ 2800m
Last 5 Starts: 51624
This three year colt is trying his luck at GRP1 level again. He is looking to make it more than half a million in prize money with a win in this race. He is having his first start at the distance and track but the owners have flown in D Evans from Australia to take the ride on him here. He is at good odds here as I don’t think he will be troubled by the class of this race, and depending on how he hadles the 3200m will be the key. I think he must be considered as an each way chance.
PP#5 MINDS OVER MATTERS danmarko2 C Guerrero $14
4yo light grey colt by SILVER CHARM x RAISE A NATIVE
Starts: 8:4-3-0
Prize Money: $88,715
Class Starts: First Start
Distance Starts: First Start
Track Starts: 1:0-1-0
Best Speed: 103 @ 2400m
Last 5 Starts: 411s2
This four year old colt is one of my runners and also happens to be the long shot of the race. He is lightly raced and doesn’t have the class experience, but I am hopinh his big heart can produce me a good run. I have been lucky to get C Guerrero to ride him and I’m hoping with his experience he can give my horse a good run. Has never raced beyond 2800m but I’m hopeful he will be able to run out the 3200m. If you like a horse with a bit of value put some money on him, but don’t expect too much from him just yet. He is having his second run from a spell so hopefully the rest has done him well.
PP#6 DEAD ZONE tripwire H Harzheim $4
7yo dark grey horse by DAYLAMI (IRE) x DARSHAAN (GB)
Starts: 53:27-8-4
Prize Money: $3,147,283
Class Starts: 12:3-2-2
Distance Starts: 21:16-3-2
Track Starts: 3:1-1-0
Best Speed: 116 @ 2800m
Last 5 Starts: 11181
This seven year old horse sure is something. Has won over $3m in prize money and from 21 starts at 3200m he is yet to miss a place. He did finish second in this race last year and is hoping to go one better this year. Has got H Harzheim on his back for the first time and they are holping that he will be the x factor they need to win this. Looking at him the only negative I can find is that he is a seven year old, but for his age he is doing well and I really can’t see him losing this.
PP#7 CHASE THE SKY trotter5 N Lawton $9
8yo brown horse by POWERSCOURT (GB) x CONQUISTADOR CIELO
Starts: 47:14-7-8
Prize Money: $1,798,578
Class Starts: 11:2-2-1
Distance Starts: 8:3-1-2
Track Starts: First Start
Best Speed: 113 @ 2400m
Last 5 Starts: 25230
This eight year old horse is the oldest runner in today’s race. Still runs in quality races but let’s hope his last start in the Breeders’ Bowl Dirt Marathon @ 2800m wasn’t a sign of him on his way down. Goes well at the distance and class but is having his first start at the track, as he does most of his racing in the US division. Don’t think he can win this but prehaps a place chance for him seems best.
PP#8 GIANT QUIET stungunn N Labreche $10
6yo light grey horse by GIANT’S CAUSEWAY x COZZENE
Starts: 35:9-7-5
Prize Money: $356,519
Class Starts: 1:0-0-0
Distance Starts: 3:1-1-1
Track Starts: 1:0-0-0
Best Speed: 109 @ 2400m
Last 5 Starts: 304s3
This six year old horse is looking for his first Group win here. Has been placed in GRP2 races but at his only start at GRP1 level he faded in the straight to finsh fourth. On the upside he is yet to miss a placing at the distance, and is second up from a spell so the rest should be good. Don’t think he is good enough to win this but at good odds he might be a slight place chance.
PP#9 GATO DEL LAGO mattress GD Mate $5
6yo brown horse by ENCOSTA DE LAGO (AUS) x STORM CAT
Starts: 36:14-3-6
Prize Money: $1,696,737
Class Starts: 8:2-0-1
Distance Starts: 5:3-0-0
Track Starts: First Start
Best Speed: 111 @ 1700m
Last 5 Starts: s4681
This six year old horse is the last one in the field for this years race. Had a win last start but that was at allowance company @ 2300m. He has been out of form at GRP1 level and prehaps his best is past him, but at 5/1 odds can’t dismiss him.
My Tips:
PP#6 DEAD ZONE
PP#2 SOURING TAP
PP#8 GIANT QUIET
So there we have it good luck to all.
