Snowy Sprint GII

Race : The QLD Snowy Sprint – Grade II – $300,000
Track : Victoria (AUS)
Restrictions : Fillies and mares, 3 years old and up
Distance : Seven furlongs on the Turf

A field of nine sprinting mares will great the judge at Victoria on Saturday. Looking at the pace makers and they will come from THE BEE’S KNEES, CADASI  or DYKSTRA and this may set it up for one to run on from the back. I like  PRECIOUS HAACK from the haackslew stable who is racing in great form at the moment, will sit just of the pace and finish strongly in the stretch. The favourite GOLDEN SANDS from the australia barn will be hard to beat but she will be giving the leaders a big start and will need luck weaving throught the field. I think OLDE ENGLISH D can improve on recent form and at the odds is worth a ticket. Below is a rundown of each runner:

PP1 – 21612 GOLDEN SANDS (IRE) 3/1

4YO Mare by Danehill Dancer (Ire) 20 starts 8-6-1 $404,656 (australia)

Win Percent 40.0% Ave Pzemoney $20,232 SP Rating 115

Won the Grade Three Atari Stakes at Ireland over today’s distance two runs back and followed that with a good second in the Grade Two CVBear’s Hometown Stakes at New York last start. One of the main chances in this.

PP2 – 11113 PRECIOUS HAACK (KY) 5/1

4YO Mare by A.P.Indy 18 starts 8-3-2 $244,597 (haackslew)

Win Percent 44.4% Ave Pzemoney $13,588 SP Rating 116

Scored fourth straight win at Newmarket in the Grade Three Charted Well over today’s distance with a strong finishing effort. Also finished strongly last start to get third here in the Grade Two Winter Sprint. Should be well ridden by D Dowell.

PP3 – 12472 ROZELLE NINER (KY) 5/1

4YO Mare by Giant’s Causeway (Ire) 18 starts 7-5-1 $719,665 (bjbandit2)

Win Percent 38.8% Ave Pzemoney $39,981 SP Rating 106

Last win was five starts back at Hong Kong in the Beautiful Loser Sprint over six and a half furlongs. Did run a very good second in the Grade Two Winter Forest last start at Berkshire over the mile and will be strong at the finish here.

PP4 – 81213 PRINCIPAL DANCER (ENG) 9/2

5YO Mare by Pivotal (GB) 29 starts 15-6-1 $1,100,187 (cthstable)
Win Percent 51.7% Ave Pzemoney $37,937 SP Rating 111

Was a good winner at Florida in a seven furlongs Allowance race before fast finishing third at Eastern Kentucky also in seven furlong Allowance race. Is a multiple Group Two winner and the winner of over $1.1M in stakes. Will be given every chance by Victoria’s top jockey D Evans.

PP5 – 71833 SIM BEE AHH TICK (KY) 14/1

5YO Mare by Johannesburg 39 starts 7-9-10 $212,990 (connection)

Win Percent 17.9% Ave Pzemoney $5461 SP Rating 100

Has been beaten into third place at last two starts at Florida and the District Of Columbia in both Allowance races and may find these too classy here.

PP6 – 16111 DYKSTRA (GB) 9/1

4YO Mare by Dubawi (Ire) 18 starts 7-3-3 $187,626 (bredbrazil)

Win Percent 38.8% Ave Pzemoney $10,423 SP Rating 110

Has been racing well lately with four wins from her last five starts. Started a long odds on favourite last start at North Korea in the Beanstalk Mare Dash over seven furlongs.

PP7 – 11447 OLDE ENGLISH D (IRE) 8/1

4YO Mare by Raven’s Pass 18 starts 7-2-2 $201,610 (gipper2)

Win Percent 38.8% Ave Pzemoney $11,200 SP Rating 111

Last win was at Kentucky four starts back in an Allowance race over six and a half furlongs and has not run a place since. Last start was a disappointing seventh in the Grade Three Bally’s Best over six furlongs at Ireland. Can improve here.

PP8 – 12226 THE BEE’S KNEES (IRE) 10/1

4YO Mare by Sea The Stars (Ire) 19 starts 5-5-3 $462,659 (mtktoday)

Win Percent 26.3% Ave Pzemoney $24,350 SP Rating 104

Ran a great second in the Grade Two Sangster at Victoria two starts back over six furlongs but weakened badly last start when sixth in the Grade Three Bally’s Best over the same distance. Is better than last run suggests and can improve here. Will be well handled by J Cox who will give him every chance.

PP9 – 02133 CADASI (IRE) 6/1

6YO Mare by Cape Cross (Ire) 28 starts 11-8-3 $948,215 (katumadeel)

Win Percent 39.2% Ave Pzemoney $33,864 SP Rating 111

Followed win in the Queen Of Rain Sprint at Maryland with a good third in the Grade Three Charted Well at Newmarket both over today’s distance. Weakened in the run home last start on  a rain affected surface at Ontario and may pay to forget that effort.

Good Luck to all Runners

Steve
