Blazing Legacy Best in Tokyo Sprint

Blazing Legacy survived a three way speed battle to prevail in The Rising Sun Spring Cup.  As expected, lightning quick Positive Vibe broke on top.  But the speedster was joined soon thereafter by both Put on a Show and Blazing Legacy.  Try as he might, Chris Roser aboard Positive Vibe could not get his horse to kick clear of those rivals.  They hounded him mercilessly.  Both were right at his steed’s throat latch throughout the entire trip.

Grudgingly, the exhausted Positive Vibe gave in midway down heartbreak lane as his two challengers fought tooth and nail to the finish.  Blazing Legacy exerted his superiority in deep stretch and finally edged clear nearing the wire.

Put on a Show was a dead game second.  Marlais, well placed throughout, finished willingly for the show.  Favored Battle Dream closed some ground late but lacked his usual punch and settled for fourth, a nose back of Marlais.  San Jacinto hit the gate, fell way behind, and was rank for most of the journey.  Flattened out nicely around the turn and was absolutely flying late to snatch the final check from the tiring Positive Vibe.  The others were always outrun.

Owner/trainer Billy2shoe was thrilled by Blazing Legacy’s performance and quite happy with his trophy and check for $150,000.

The time for the grassy seven panels was 1:21 and earned the winner a gaudy speed figure of 113.
