Trying to pick up a third in a row boxed trifecta last week but came up short and I knew it too.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Things started off very nicely as top choice Turns me Crazy got to the wire first with a career best speed of 107 and paying a cool $7.30.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN><\/o:p><\/FONT><\/P>

\u00a0<\/FONT><\/o:p><\/P>

Second choice Shelving Rock ran an even second throughout the race and connected for a decent $33.10 exacta, which I\u2019m more than pleased to pocket away.<\/o:p><\/FONT><\/P>

\u00a0<\/FONT><\/o:p><\/P>

I was hesitant in making my third pick Blazing World, but I did and commented \u201cNot sure if the 107 number was a fluke or not, if it was, watch out for a long shot getting the third spot.\u201d\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He finished some 6 strides in fourth behind 7-1 Tueur and a $240.70 trifecta.<\/o:p><\/FONT><\/P>

\u00a0<\/FONT><\/o:p><\/P>

This week we are focused on a 2-year maiden special weight race.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>This race is open to all horses but is restricted to local breds and is held in the first race in Hong Kong.<\/o:p><\/FONT><\/P>

\u00a0<\/FONT><\/o:p><\/P>

The race will be competed at a distance of 5 \u00bd furlongs and will be run on a dry, fast dirt track.<\/o:p><\/FONT><\/P>

\u00a0<\/FONT><\/o:p><\/P>

1. \u00a0<\/SPAN>French Guest\u00a0 <\/SPAN>16-1<\/SPAN>-Has been on the board once in six starts which came in last race on turf, albeit, a four horse field.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Top speed was two back going a mile on dirt with a SP of 56.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Doesn\u2019t look to be much on paper, but drops quite a bit in distance which could make a difference.<\/o:p><\/FONT><\/P>

\u00a0<\/FONT><\/o:p><\/P>

2.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Hiflying\u00a0 <\/SPAN>5-1<\/SPAN>\u2013Comes off good effort on dirt, finishing second in small 4-horse field with speed of 64.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Breeding seems to lean towards turf but this effort was much better than his sole grass effort was.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Has early speed and could be a factor.<\/o:p><\/FONT><\/P>

3.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Rock Lizard\u00a0 <\/SPAN>8-5<\/SPAN>-Has two starts, both on dirt.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Last race is a throw-away as he ran in 20-horse field stake race which was owner restricted, frankly, looked to be well overmatched.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Speeds in both starts were 67 and 69.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Moves to dirt race for his debut on the surface.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Bred for turf and there is the uncertainty how this favorite will do with switching surfaces.<\/o:p><\/FONT><\/P>

4. \u00a0<\/SPAN>Gogh Red Gogh\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>13-1<\/SPAN>-In five starts, has missed board each time.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Top speed of 55 came in last start at a mile on dirt.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Drops in distance but not sure if that will help much as he has finished well back each time.\u00a0 <\/SPAN><\/o:p><\/FONT><\/P>

\u00a0<\/FONT><\/o:p><\/P>

5. \u00a0<\/SPAN>Electrical Impulse\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>9-2<\/SPAN>\u2013Made first career start on turf and charted a speed of 56 while finishing 3rd<\/SUP>.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Makes switch to dirt and seeks improvement.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Breeding, however, favors the grass.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>\u00a0<\/SPAN>Still, this change could make a difference.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Can only wait and see.<\/o:p><\/FONT><\/P>

\u00a0<\/FONT><\/o:p><\/P>

6.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Cavalier Boots\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>10-1<\/SPAN>\u2013A turf bred horse who has had no success on the grass in four starts.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Top speed was charted at 60 when running 5 furlongs two back.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Tries dirt for first time in hopes of a big turnaround.<\/o:p><\/FONT><\/P>

\u00a0<\/FONT><\/o:p><\/P>

7.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Major Cause\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>2-1<\/SPAN>-Arguably, the best bred horse in this race.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He has three starts, all on turf, with top speed of 61 in his first start.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Another switching to try luck on dirt for first time.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Chances as good as any other.<\/o:p><\/FONT><\/P>

\u00a0<\/FONT><\/o:p><\/P>

Open race in my mind as many are trying dirt for first time.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Hiflying gets my choice for top pick coming off decent race on dirt in last and could run off with this one.<\/o:p><\/FONT><\/P>

Rock Lizard has best speeds in field, but on turf.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Gets second choice as he may like the dirt.<\/o:p><\/FONT><\/P>

Best breeding is with Major Cause, again trying dirt for first time.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Maybe things will go his way in this one, getting my third selection.<\/o:p><\/FONT><\/P><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
