Danny\u00a0bid a race for his precocious Curlin filly, Visegoth<\/FONT><\/STRONG>, which is not the least bit restrictive.\u00a0 Fillies and mares, 3 years old, Non-Winners of FOUR Lifetime, A mile and three eighths on the Firm Turf Course, Purse : $46,200.\u00a0 There\u00a0are hundreds of fillies who fill the bill.\u00a0 But nary a one RSVP’d.<\/DIV>
\u00a0<\/DIV>
Rather than have a literal walkover for Visegoth, the SIM\u00a0created three California bred opponents.\u00a0 I\u00a0am not the most knowledgeable breeder, but I have only heard of one of the nine sires listed in their collective pedigrees.\u00a0 I don’t think any\u00a0of these young ladies will become\u00a0Breeders’ Bowl\u00a0contenders based on their odds.<\/DIV>

Let’s look at this field in post position order.<\/DIV>
\u00a0<\/DIV>
Breaking from the hedge is first timer\u00a0Malotte<\/STRONG><\/FONT>.\u00a0 Her sire, Onebadshark, is available right now for 17 points.\u00a0\u00a0Fewer by the time you read this.\u00a0 Malotte’s DS is the little used Stop The Fighting (7 points).\u00a0 Solid DDS Herbager (317 points)\u00a0probably accounts for this one being only 34-1.<\/DIV>
\u00a0<\/DIV>
Next comes Laurila<\/FONT><\/STRONG>.\u00a0 She is by Iron Cat (34 points) who has sired a total of seven since 2005.\u00a0 Those seven have earned a grand total of $22,333.\u00a0 Dam sire Tiger Tiger (9 points) appears as DS of five, none of whom have done much.\u00a0 DDS Lyphard’s Ridge (36 points) has had\u00a0little success as a DS with only three winners from eight performers.\u00a0 50-1<\/DIV>

The final challenger is Niesman<\/STRONG><\/FONT>.\u00a0 This one is by General Griffin (11 points) who is 0 for 5 as a sire in terms of winners and has not been used since 2006.\u00a0 DS Brief Ruckus (13 points) has\u00a0one stakes winning credit\u00a0each as a sire and DS from limited opportunity.\u00a0 DDS Tudor Melody was a foal of 1956.\u00a0 His SIM stats are too limited to draw any conclusions.\u00a0 But the fact his price is currently 138 points leads me to believe there may be some quality there.\u00a0 65-1<\/DIV>
\u00a0<\/DIV>
Visegoth drew the four.\u00a0 She is coming off\u00a0a decisive victory over Desperado Rob’s very nice Galileo filly, Unique Position<\/STRONG>.\u00a0 Given’s\u00a0gal will have a decided home field advantage having raced In Idaho every\u00a0career start.\u00a0 Top jock Bill Gulch has been aboard all seven previous tries and Saturday will be no exception.\u00a0 I fully expect Dan to ship this filly overseas soon.\u00a0 Since she’s bred for dirt, it was natural to begin her career stateside.\u00a0 But now that she’s becoming a grass monster, I see much bigger and better things in her future.<\/DIV>
\u00a0<\/DIV>
Bottom line.\u00a0 The speedy and talented Visegoth would have to suffer misfortune of catastrophic proportions to lose here.\u00a0 Consider using 65-1 Niesman to complete exacta crapshoot.<\/DIV>
