Well it’s nearly the end of the year and soon the 2yo will become 3yo. I thought it would be nice to write an article on the best overall 2yo colt by prizemoney.<\/p>\n
IMPERIAL CRISIS(KY) (17950) is leading so far with the next best horse MOGARD DRESDEN(IRE) being nearly $200,000 away. <\/p>\n
So lets take a closer look at IMPERIAL CRISIS(KY).
This 2yo’s sire is ARCH and GAME DAM is ROCK ALL NIGHT(JPN). So far he has had the 5 starts for 3 wins and a second. He is the number #1 ranked on turf sprints and his only missed a place in the G2-The Champagne Mile.<\/p>\n
His first start was in Kentucky back in March in a $45k maiden. I think that day not many would have given him a chance at his 11\/1 odds there were a lot more that were looked at. He jumped from barrier 12 and was soon eased towards the back but never far away from the leaders. By the half way mark he was already second and he finished off strongly to win by a lenght.<\/p>\n
His second start came 5 weeks later in Washington in St-Hell On Earth Turf Juvenile over 1100m. This time around he was the favourite and in a small field of 6 this really was only ever going to be his race. In the end he only won by 3\/4 of a lenght but a good win either way.<\/p>\n
His third start came nearly 2 months later when he was flown to Berkshire (England). The race was G2-The Coventry Steaks Race over 1200m, and even with his impressive 2 wins the bookies only had him fifth favourite in a field of 7. In this instance he just failed to catch the leader but finished a good lenght away second.<\/p>\n
His fourth start was 6 weeks later where he was flown to Victoria (Australia). The race was G2-The Champagne Mile over 1600m and again he was at the 5\/1 odds. This was the first time he would run this far and it would prove that he wasn’t ready to run that far just yet. Settled fourth for most of the race until the third call where he driffted to sixth, but came back to finish just under 6 lenghts fourth.<\/p>\n
His last race was a month later and again he ran at Victoria. The race was G1-Blue Diamond Road over 1200m and he was once again at the 5\/1 odds. This was a big step up for him and he did have some good competition. In a field of 10 he settled midfield and he really stormed home to win by 1 and a half lenghts.<\/p>\n
So there we have it 5 starts so far and already the best. I wish I had a horse like him and good luck to him and connection for the rest of his racing career. <\/p>\n
